I would like to see it happen, they would turn into the largest ferry corp. in the world. BC Ferries would run the companey and put bow and stern doors on all WSF ships and food service on some routes. Etc.

I vote no, because the 3 companies creates a variety of ferry colours!
I would like BC Ferries to run a ferry service to the USA though.

I think it's a different company. It's called Black Ball Transport.

I think it's a different company. It's called Black Ball Transport. Correct. Black Ball Transport was originally a trucking company before they got into the ferry business. -- LB

My view would be that the BC Government would sell some shares in BCFS - and keep say the "golden" share 51% - also that WSF - would go semi-private and again the State would hold the "Golden" share 51%. SO yes you could get a company that purchased say 40% of each ferry buisness. There would be major cost savings in HQ staff - and repairs. It would open up movement between us and them - and I think our smaller Gulf Island would benefit with new housing - capital coming on - in to it.
Lot's of good and some very bad ideas. The Americans would have to re-think this "Home Land" security issue.
Karl - I saw that Air Canada has just placed a massive order for new Boeings - dumping there Airbus - after changing from Boeing to Airbus - maybe a mistake - as the cost on re-training there staff - and maint'ce people - plus dumping all the spare parts. So what was the main reason - given in the London FT - it was the massive amounts of people flying into Vancouver and To - chaging flights - instead of going via the States - there loss our gain - maybe? Hence the new planes for the Far East Market. What's your spin / view on it? and how is LA ?

Actually, Black Ball Transport was a different company than the former PSN company that ran the Hsb to Nanaimo and Langdale. A relative of the Peabody family aquired the rights to the Black Ball name, and built the M.V. Coho (on which the design of the Tsawwassen and Sidney were based) for the Port Angeles to Victoria line that still runs today. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
cascade,
According to my source on the YVR (Vancouver International Airport) board, Air Canada got a huge bargain from Boeing.

Air Canada - interesting - as the Airbus people are claiming that Boeing are giving out massive sub's.
They flew the new A380 - largest passenger plane on Wednesday. The only airports getting ready to rec'd it - well let's just say nothing so far in America - Boeing country I guess.
The Sub or deal must have been good - as it will cost a lot on re-training and new spares - must have also got very good set of terms on the financial package to boot.. given Air Canada recent financial problesm- not that long ago..

It's not a sub... it's just a cut off (discount)
