Ladies and Gentlemen,
I propose a 4 May trip on the Queen of Tsawwassen.
As walk ons, depart Tsawwassen on the Tsawassen at 11:10am to Salt Spring Island and points between.
As walk ons, depart Long Harbour on the Tsawwassen at 3:30pm to Tsawwassen and points between. Arrival is at 6:00pm.
This itinerary allows sufficient and reasonable time for Victorians to make the trip, or meet on Salt Spring if so desired.
Would this work for people?

I would definitely be interested in such a trip. I had been thinking of doing the Swartz Bay-SGI day trip sometime this spring anyway (on Board Cumbie, of course), but this would accomplish the same thing, and give me a chance to ride Queen of Tsawwassen one more time (which would be my second time). If this goes forward, I can just meet everyone at Tsawwassen. Let's hope others are interested - could be fun!

I should be ok for the 4th as it is a Sunday so I guess I will have to do a route 1 and 9 trip that day!

I can't make it on the 4th. I will be returning home from Pender Isl. that day, and I have to work the rest of the week.

I can't make it on the 4th as I am taking my cadets canoing.
It seems like I am never going to be able to attend a group trip on the QofT.

I was thinking that the 4th was a saturday, and that I wouldn't be able to attend. Seeing that it is, indeed, a Sunday, I am totally in for this trip. It'll be neat to ride the Tsawwassen for the first and probably last time in the same day, heh.

The fourth eh... not good for me. Parents are out of town and I need to take care of business around here...

May 3 to June 6. I think we should also do another trip during this time over to Galiano to get photos of the Tsawwassen in Active Pass from Bellhouse and the Bluffs. What do you think?

Since I have never to Bellhouse Park, I would definitely be in for that. I love new experiences, especially if it involves viewing ferries all day! Since the Queen of Tsawwassen will be there 'till June 6, I am sure I will be able to sneak in a few round trips on her. I told my boyfriend that even though he isn't a ferry geek, he has to experience the Tsawwassen at least once before she leaves the fleet...or else

Yeah there is a fare to get back to TSA from Long Harbour.
I won't be in on this trip, I have other stuff happening on Sunday.

We're getting close to the event day. Where should we meet on the Tsawwassen side, and at what time? I haven't actually met any of the forum members yet, so providing a specific place and time will definitely help me, and perhaps others, as well.
I should be arriving at Tsawwassen between 9:30 and 10:00 depending on border traffic, but I'm not expecting that to be too busy on a Sunday morning. I'm going to try to do the Port Townsend Keystone ferry on the way up, since I haven't ridden Steilacoom II yet, so that will be a little side jaunt for me, although it isn't far out of the way.

I dont know what sailing I am taking over either the 7am or 9am route 1 sailing. I am leaning towards the 7am as I havent taken an early morning sailing for a while and would like to get to Tsawwassen a bit earlier than 10:45am, lol! But I probably will return on the 7pm. It would be nice if there was a 8am sailing that day as that would be perfect.

Ok, minor suggestion here, as it might cause an issue.....but it's totally worth it. IF we just took the Queen of Tsawwassen from Tsawwassen to Long Harbour, we'd arrive at Saltspring at 2:10pm. Now I'd assume this would allow for plenty of time to drive to Vesuvius Bay for the 3:00pm sailing to Crofton. Then we could rip up to Departure Bay, for a possible MD sailing on the Queen of Esquimalt? The earliest we would be at Departure Bay would be about 4:00pm I think. This all depends on when she would run. But just a reminder, the Queen of Esquimalt is supposed to be retired right now, but the Tsawwassen will be running until September at least . I'd volunteer to drive, as it would be a good circle route for me to take, with Horseshoe bay being at my doorstep. So 3 small seats are available in my compact car, for anyone who would want to do the extra sidetrip. But you would be on your own once we got to Horseshoe Bay. PS: I can also pick anyone up in the Horseshoe Bay/North Shore area on my way out to Tsawwassen. I'd be passing through Horseshoe Bay at about 9:45am at the latest, and North Vancouver around 10:00am.

I am probably just gonna do the roundtrip on the Tsawwassen as that is what I was planning. Too complicated to do it any other way.

Chris, your side-trip seems like a bit of a stretch without any direct comfirmation of the Queen of Esquimalt sailings. I think we should just stick with the plan and do the trip as a group. At the very least, this would be really, really hard for me to do unless I drove to Horseshoe Bay instead of TSA so I could ride with you.

I like the Esquimalt option. The only glitch in my mind would be whether you'd be able to time the Esquimalt's sailing adequately if there were any sailing waits, given the fact that the group would be travelling with a car. The only way it would work was if it ran from Departure Bay at 130pm, followed by a second round trip at 6pm, which would be the only Esquimalt sailing the group would be able to catch. If it doesn't do a 130 trip, it'd almost be certain that she'll depart Nanaimo at around 4pm, a typical busy period on a Sunday.
