While thinking about the incentives BCF is using to try to lure traffic to route 30, a thought hit me. Why not combine routes 2 and 30, and serve Duke Point, Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay all on one triangle route? It would allow the added benefit of being able to go from, say, the US border to Squamish and Whistler without having to go through Vancouver congestion (and be a scenic route to boot), and it would give people travelling through Duke Point a choice of destination; which raises the question: Would people living on the Mainland actually want to pay to take a ferry to bypass the heavy traffic in Vancouver, and would such a route make BCF enough money to sustain it?

It would not work because it would take longer by ship than driving hwy 99!

The choices would be to either go really slow and lose the time advantage, or go fast and lose the fuel advantage.

I would assume in a time of crisis such as terrost attack or A major Earthquake on the 2 North shore bridges, (Lions Gate and 2nd Narrows) that a Tsawwassen to Horseshoe Bay service would be considerd since it would be the only possible (Logical) way to move vehicles back and forth.
