I don't recall hearing anything about the NIP going in for Refit anytime soon...Although maybe it came up awhile ago and I just forgot. I remember hearing she was supposed to get new engines in the Summer, but I guess that was delayed. She's way overdue for a refit.

So what was the replacement vessel for the NIP then? This is not making any sense to me, as I can't recall an available replacement vessel for her. The Tachek went straight to the Hornby run after filling in for the QQII up in Port McNeill. I can't see them using a K Class. The only possibility to me is the Bowen Queen, but I think the BQ hasn't surfaced after her refit in Esquimalt. . .another question that could possibly get answered. Every now and then I check out the run on Siitech and it's always the NIP. Are there any confirming answers on this one?

I don't recall the NIP going in for any refit during the summer. I think you meant the Mill Bay. She's supposed to go in for engine work.

I believe the Bowen Queen was off on Route 9A for the summer...

Yes it was on 9A, and then went into refit immediately afterwards. There was a service notice stating that the BQ was going to replace the Quinsam while it goes for what appears to be a MLU, but that seems to have disappeared off the radar. That makes me wonder if there are currently some issues with the 'mule' otherwise known as the Bowen Queen.

The Bowen Queen was on the Campbell River to Quadra Island run untill July 07, as picture below taken on July 06: Powell River Queen returned on July 08, as below picture was taken on that day: Because of the late return of PRQ route 9A only had the Queen of Nanaimo untill July 08, 2008. There was no possible way that the Bowen Queen had been on the Texada run in late Spring-to over summer,

The Queen of Cowichan has been at the dry dock in Esquimalt since last Friday. She was parked alongside the wall. If I find out information on what they are doing to her, I'll let you know.

So that means there are 2 Nanaimo area based vessles in Esquimalt. The Quinsam was headed there.

Im thinking that that QPR will get one last refit this winter. I'm thinking not, and here's why. The QPR will be in service until Feb or March when the Norad comes back online. The Norad will then service the north until the Norex comes online. The Norex will then service the entire north until the summer schedule starts, and the Norad goes on route 11. So I'm thinking after she comes off her current deployment she will be finished.

I'll help you work this one out yourself: Ask yourself: "Which ship are we talking about?" Then ask yourself: "Which routes might this ship possibly be working on during summer?" Then when you've narrowed it down to say 2 possible routes, report back here, with your reasoned-guess, including of course your reasons. It's much more fun that way.....

I tend to agree -- with her days numbered, and there not being any huge mechanical issues that we've been made aware of, I would think that the QPArgh has seen her last official BCFS refit. Other than ongoing minor maintenance etc, I believe that she will not have any more money/time invested in her upkeep.

According to BC Ferries schedule, the Queen of Prince Rupert will be finished her service on March 31st. The QPR will definitely not have any more refits as a BC Ferry.

The Queen of Richmond will be undergoing her MLU Dogwoodization this fall. Am I ever glad they're getting rid of that Wave Carpeting! It's like a bunch of squiggly blue lines. Refresh my memory, was the interior always like that? I seem to recall reading that she was supposed to be exactly the same as the Burnaby, Nanaimo, and New Westminster but they decided to go with a new interior design that looked 40 years ahead of it's time. Oh Great! This means we need a replacement vessel.

We can only hope the Retro/Flashback trend will catch on at BC Ferries and they will paint the Richmond in the Dogwood Blue colour scheme. AC has their Trans Canada Airlines Airbus. The TTC has its orginal Cream and Red scheme Red Rocket Streetcar.
However, the Richmond will arrive at night be shrouded in shrink wrap and then leave at night when she is finished. So how will we know???!!! I think we should build a duck blind opposite Dees and nominate a forum member to a lookout vigil. Maybe even a night vision camera can be found. Mikey is the closest. Just saying.
Barring that we will just have to hope the Richmond emerges from her perpetual fog bag for one of those rare spottings.

I still don't get why your talking about the I thought she isn't around? Sentence fragment analysis -- 71.4% Readability scale -- 66.3% Just to clarify, the Queen of Richmond is very much 'around', and has been spotted by several forum members on various routes.

I am thinking that the Q-Richmond will probably take the 'New Westminster's place at North Vancouver, in early 2009, for the 'Richmond's long awaited MLU. The ship will be around for a long time yet, and so if she has to spend all of 2009 in dry-dock, so be it.
