The following photos are the most popular from the prior vote. We have decided to select the top six due to the fact that the other eleven photos were all tied with one vote. This vote will be deciding the photo to be used for the Forum Flagship for the month of March. This poll is automatically set to lock at 9:00 PM PST on February 28th.1. Full-size located here. 2. The forum header looks pretty spiffy this month. Also, the QotN avatar looks awesome only better.

I Voted for #5. Not only is it one of the best of the bunch, but it clearly shows both Spirits. My conclusion, when you haven't had the Spirits as flagship for as long as it has been, you can't just pick one.

Well I liked #4, and it was tied for the lead until near the end, until 2 people voted for the other one. No wrongdoing alleged by me, I'm sure it was all on the up-and-up. ;D
Maybe next time I'll hold-back my vote too, and break a tie at the last moment. I like that strategy, which is easier than creating a bunch of new usernames to block-vote....
All in fun. This was a fun month.

This month had a stellar selection, and I thank each and every one of you for your beautiful entries. I chose #2 because, well, I liked it. My gut said choose it so I did; and after eating Subway my gut was feeling pretty good about itself.

It does seem that forum members generally like to double their pleasure & double their fun with double Spirit pics. You will note that two boat pics finished 1, 2 & 3 this month. I would like to congratulate everyone on a fine crop of photos. I am one who loves ferry pics to include not just the boats, but great scenery also. As such, I really am particular to Esquimalt Queen's shot of both boats viewed from the Bluffs Park on Galiano Island.* I am also partial to Scott's twilight shot, and both photos submitted that had Mt. Baker as backdrops (Canucks & Nick). *I keep thinking that EQ should maybe pack in a chain saw to get rid of those offending trees that get in the way ;D. They sell chain saws at Canadian Tire, don't they? This brings me to my own submissions... Of the three that I submitted, I liked the header created from this pic the best... Due in part to there being just one boat, this picture received just one vote (mine) and did not go on to round two . As for my two photos that did go to round two, I preferred this one... This shot was taken on a Gulf Islands camping trip with my family in May of 1995. We had taken the Queen of Cumberland from Swartz Bay to Village Bay, Mayne Island. At that point we transferred to the Queen of Nanaimo for the short hop to Sturdies Bay, on Galiano. It was while we were in transit through Active Pass on the Nanaimo that I caught this and several other shots of both Spirits, also transiting Active Pass. This photo was, of course, shot on film. It is grainy and not so sharp as your typical modern digital shot. The winning photo was taken during my solo trip to Galiano in May 2007. For more info go back to this thread: ferriesbc.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=photos&action=display&thread=3144BTW, did I mention that Active Pass is a wonderful spot for ferry geeks to hang out... Last point: What is the plan for April?
