Wow, that is awesome! How would it go to Duke Point? Would they make that extra berth at the terminal for it, or are they making something seperate....?

First of all, I'd kind of like a little more solid reference than 'a little bird'.

The guy works for BC Ferries, so you would think his sources would be good. But I don't see how you would put it at Duke Point? BC Ferries really doesn't have an facilities there like Twa, or Departure Bay.

Based on Mr. Engineer's posting-history on this board, he only posts when he's got something to say......and he keeps it very straight & simple.
So I'm inclined to take his word......but also to realize that for me it's still just a rumour from a good source.

The word came from very high up..... but nothing is for sure untill it really happens

so does that mean that BC ferries would use the boat for an inhouse course for training people or something like that??

At least she won't be sold and scrapped! Plus it is a good excuse for BCF to keep her around.

Here, here!!
And she'll be looked after too! Engineering and safety equipment always certified. Hope it happens for the second of the originals!
You guys remember how long they let the Sidney and Victoria sit before they got rid of them??!! Very sad!

Maybe they'll do the same for the three V's...
It's good to see a retired vessel be put to use again.

I was also told that the Ferry Academy would be at Duke Point. We were informed about it a couple of months ago during a shipboard meeting. Ferry University was ruled out as a name because of all the FU's that would be on sweatshirts all over the coast!

I'm under the impression that the reason that they made extra space at Duke Point for a new berth, is because I think they were planning to have a third vessel on that route. For the time being, it looks as though that they plan to have the Queen of Tsawwassen there for a while.

I wouldn't say you're right but it is sort of a possibility. However the Tsawassen is too small for a Route Like that...Now. If it's anywhere it's probably going to be in or next to Duke Point would be nice to see one of the two Originals put to good use and near a BC Ferry Terminal

Very good use, recycling a ferry like that, especially an original vessel. Well, that would be a nice treat, a new scenic addition to route 30, Queen of Tsawwassen parked at Duke Point. So on Route 30, what can be seen right now? Open water from Tsawwassen, plus some islands to the south, Cargo ships alongside, and lots of other ferries. (SOVI, SOBC, Queen of Saanich, Queen of Vancouver, Queen of New westminster. Route 2 ferries in the distance, Harbourlynx was a nice scenic addition, and Quinsam going from Nanaimo to Gabriola.)
What can we expect? We know 2 things. (Queen of Tsawwassen at Duke Point in 2008, and Pacificats coming into Berth at Duke Point in a few years)
