The Alberni was supposed to be out for maintenance today, but she is doing a round trip on Route 2 today. Anybody know why, besides the obvious reason they needed the capacity?

Thanks for the heads-up, hergfest.
Interesting to note that the added sailing is noted on the 'actual departures' page on BCFerries.com, but not on the RBI:
-Departure--Arrival----------------------Scheduled Ferry --12:30 pm--2:05 pm-------------------Queen of Cowichan --3:00 pm---4:35 pm----AVAILABLE--Queen of Oak Bay --5:00 pm---6:35 pm----AVAILABLE--Queen of Cowichan --7:00 pm---8:35 pm----AVAILABLE--Queen of Oak Bay --9:00 pm---10:35 pm---AVAILABLE--Queen of Cowichan
Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay Sailing time: 1 hour 35 minutes Tuesday, May 23, 2006 Queen of Alberni 1:30 PM

Sounds right; she was running about a half hour late for her round trip today.
Does anyone have word on how the Alberni was able to take the time for a route 2 round-trip during such a short (3 day) refit? I'm guessing that they had some spare time, but wouldn't be surprised to find out that the volume today demanded it, and that we'll be seeing an extension of her refit.

Someone decided that it was going to perhaps be a little busy on the Tuesday after a long weekend and decided that the Alberni should be made available for a Manager's Discretion sailing Tues. morning. There should still be ample time to do the work scheduled for the 3 days.

As well some regular Alberni crew were assigned to the mini refit so they may be on there as well. Me, well I'm on days off and staying that way until Sunday.
