It looks like they are doing some upgrading to their site as the CC arrival and departure times arent working and now they have a vessel tracking which at the moment dosent work as I am assuming they are doing upgrades at the moment. It's gonna be interesting to see what this vessel tracking thing is. Hopefully it will be up and running soon! Just though I would let everyone know!

You have to go to the current conditions at an individual terminal, and you'll notice the usual buttons on the bottom, like "Sailing Departures", etc.... But the new one is, "Vessel Tracking", which is located right along that same row of buttons. Also, by the looks of it, they're going to be making the Actual Departures page be an "Arrivals and Departures" page. orca.bcferries.com:8080/cc/conditions/sailingDetail.asp?route=02&dept=NAN

Ooh, vessel tracking... Just like on the WSF site, where you can track where each vessel is via GPS?
I bet BCF should now install Wi-Fi hotspots at all of its major terminals so passengers can get a real-time idea of how long they'll have to wait to get on their ferries.

dnelson, they are already on AIS and have GPS systems, installing Wi-Fi would be rather dumb and I am betting there would be a charge for usage. Real time stats are given via variable message signs outside terminals. (Major that is)

Who cares where all those Southern ferries are ... just get out a pair of binoculars and you can see them :-) I want to know where the Queen of Prince Rupert might be when I'm waiting for it to arrive but is delayed by storm force winds ...

I do. Because it would be neat to find out where each vessel is at any given time, because then we would be able to see where the John Atlantic Burr is without researching anything from anywhere else.

No Vessel Tracking anymore! It has now dissapeared from the Current Conditions page so I have no idea what that was about last night as why they would have a vessel tracking thing up there!

I wonder why. They obviously have the capability, so why not?

dnelson, they are already on AIS and have GPS systems I know that. I was just anticipating how this "vessel tracking" system on BC Ferries' website would have worked. But seeing as now it appears to have been cancelled, it's now moot...
