Hey guys!
A quick glance around here, and on the BC Ferries website, and I can't find any info on when the Surrey comes back into service! It would be great if someone could let me know. Also, I assume she'll be starting on route 2, right?
Thanks

According to the RBI, the Queen of Surrey returns on June 28th on Route 3.

However RBI can be wrong. It could return early. The 28th happens to be the beginning of the Summer

she was out on trials last weekend. However, I've been off since then and haven't heard anything since.

Scott said on the other forum, that she's supposed to leave Departure Bay on the 26th. So it must be going into service on the 28th.

Pretty stupid that they are putting her back on the Langdale run. Oh well...I guess I'll most likely be on her on the third week of July then. ;D

They should really put her on route 2 out of HSB then have the Oak Bay out of Departure Bay! Put the Cowichan on the Langdale run and the Coquitlam as the extra! But that wont happen seeing the Langdale people and crew are so greedy and want the Surrey back!

I tend to think that it's probably best for the crew and the ferry to have the same ship the majority of the time. They know the ship inside out, they take special care of it, there's some affection and respect for the ship that might not be there as much if they were switching ferries every few years (probably saves money too). And it's usually those ships that are there year after year that build up a "reputation"... and people in a locality build an affectionate relationship with ships that serve their location for long lengths of time.
Maybe I'm making too much out of it.. but I"ll put it out there anyways!

Okay, but what about constant changes on Earls Cove-Saltery Bay or Thetis-Chemainus-Kuper or Denman-Hornby?
And besides: Every route has a vessel reassigned to them every year, whether it's the Tsawwassen on Route 17 or Esquimalt on Route 1/2 or the Bowen on Route 5.

The plan is for the Surrey to do Manager's discretion sailings etc on rte 2 until the 28th to see if all the bugs are worked out prior to her taking up the Rte 3 schedule.

I guess not tonight. The Oak Bay was overloaded for the last run on Route 2 so the Esquimalt did a 9:15 out of Departure Bay. Maybe moving her to Langdale?
