I just found a summer 1967 B.C. Ferries schedule, and was pleased to see that on the routes they listed what vessels would be working the run. I was going to scan it, but folded out it's too big and would make one huge scan, so here it goes: Vancouver-Sunshine Coast (Howe Sound, Sechelt Peninsula Route, Horseshoe Bay-Langdale) : M/V Langdale Queen & M/V Sechelt Queen Sechelt Peninsula-Powel River: Powell River Queen Vancouver-Bowen Island: Bowen Queen Mainland-Gulf Islands: Queen of the Islands Fulford-Swartz Bay: Salt Spring Queen Vesuvius-Crofton: Vesuvius Queen Vancouver-Gulf Islands (Inter Island): Mayne Queen Mainland-Gulf Islands (from May 26th to Ocotber 1st, Saturday Only): Queen of Sidney For Vancouver-Victoria and Vancouver-Nanaimo there is no specific vessels listed. Kelsey Bay-Prince Rupert also has no vessel listed. Intersting little bit of history there. I'd never seen a B.C. Schedule that had listed the vessels before.

Thanks EvergreenFleet! Maybe you can help me out here, but what vessel was running Comox-Powell River?

Thanks EvergreenFleet! Maybe you can help me out here, but what vessel was running Comox-Powell River? Hmm, the only thing on the schedule for the Powell River is Sechelt Peninsula-Powell River, which says under it "Jervis Inlet-Powell River Route Crossing time 50 minutes" is the Powell River Queen. The name "Comox" isn't on the schedule anywhere. It does have "Vancouver-Powell River" but doesn't list a vessel.

Here: Vancouver Island-Powell River? Or, Vancouver Island-Sunshine Coast?

BC Ferries wasn't running the Comox route until the 80's, hence the reason it isn't listed on a BC Ferries schedule from the 60's. I wonder why they list the Mayne Queen as "Vancouver to Gulf Islands (Inter-island)" when she ran from Swartz?

Could you just scan the front of the Schedule or something that makes it smaller

Powell River - Comox was the Comox Queen (Tenaka). Mayne Queen was listed as Swartz Bay-Gulf Islands. They meant Vancouver- Powell River to be the two Sunshine Coast runs together.

Vancouver - Victoria would have been the Victoria & Vancouver from the mainland and the Saanich and Esquimalt from SB. On the HSB - DPB route would have been the Nanaimo, New West, Burnaby & Tsawwassen. I am unsure which one were based at which terminals but my guess is that the Nanaimo & Tsawwassen were DPB based. The QPR was, of course, on the Inside Passage Route, where it is again, today 39 years later!
The Sidney at that time, I believe, was used as an extra on Route 1, with Gulf Island stops.

In response to the Powell River-Vancouver Route. You are right that it does mean both routes but when the CP Ships were around there was a Powell River-Vancouver Route. I should know My Mom said My Grandparent's went on that route. in fact I think that was shortly after they got married

With reference from the book, "The Queens of British Columbia", Peter Favelle states that the Queen of Nanaimo and New Westminster were based out of Horseshoe Bay, while the Queen of Burnaby and Tsawwassen were based out of Departure Bay.
The Queen of Sidney would do the Southern Gulf Islands route in the summer, and would be a relief vessel in the winter.
The Langdale Queen would mostly operate on the Langdale-Horseshoe Bay route, but the Bowen Queen would replace her, if she was needed to replace another vessel that was in for refit.

So the Bowen Queen has been a Ideal replacement on the Langdale Route from the start of her career

My parents have fond memories of sailing aboard the venerable old Landale Queen (with the vibrations to mark her age) during the '70s, from when my dad was a camera man for CBC's long-running Beachcombers series that was filmed in Gibsons. I've mentioned before, but another interesting bit of info from my dad's days on set is that they frequently used the existing ramp on the old Black Ball wharf, that remains to this day, to load / unload their barge; the very same wharf / (existing) ramp that the Bainbridge used before Langdale, and can be seen in these shots:

Thx, Graham
Was there any holding whatsoever in Langdale at the time? I sure don't see any.

There is a ferry traffic lane like at the minor Terminals that goes up the hill My Dad recalls that you would have to park on the hill

The only Minor route I can think of that has the ferry traffic park in a special lane going up a hill is from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay, on the Brentwood side there is a special holding lane in the middle of the road, then when the ferry is ready to begin loading, the green light turns on and the traffic goes down onto the ferry.

Lyall Harbour, Whaletown, Otter Bay, the list goes on...
On a more interesting note, Descanso Bay has a massive parking lot, but single-lane holding.

They're probably not that rare. I've got schedules for every year back to '66.

If anyone sees it or something similar, and they don't wish to purchace it themselves, I'm sure that some of us would appreciate a heads up. Thanks.

I have spare schedules (one each) for the summers of '67, '69, '73, and '74. I'm not interested in selling them, but I'd be happy to give them away, if anyone's interested.
