Notmuchlonger said the Surrey will be doing the manager's descretion sailings until the 28th. So if there are overloads on Route 2 tomorrow, will she sail? I checked the Dep Bay webcam today and the Esquimalt was still in Berth 1.

I'm not sure. I can tell you this: They'll be needing manager descretion sailings on the 28th.

Me Scott and Graham were on her last night and I dont think she would be ready by today. There was alot of stuff still on her and work being done so I doubt she will be sailing till the 28th. They will still use the Esquimalt!

The Esquimalt is doing a 1:45pm round trip on Route 2, so that answers that question.

According to Kevin Stapleton's Site the Queen of Surrey left either late last nite or very early this morning as it shows the vessle leaving near dark. This should mean that the Queen of Coquitlam should reposition to Departure Bay this week as the #2 boat and the Esquimalt should sail to Langdale when her berth is free.

According to the current conditions, The Surrey is back, making the 5:30 sailing from Horseshoe Bay-Langdale and continuing to do sialings for the rest of the evening. But then it still lists the QOC as handling the rest of the departures from Langdale-Horseshoe Bay. orca.bcferries.com:8080/cc/conditions/actualDepartures.asp

Well I just saw the Surrey on the webcam leave at 6:39pm from Langdale. The CC says it was the Coquitlam but it definately the Surrey. The Esquimalt is now sitting at Langdale, and the Coquitlam is at Departure Bay as the Cowichan left HSB late at 5:19 so she should be arriving now. So the Surrey is back now as the Coquitlam is at Departure Bay!

Alright - the moment you've all been waiting for! This just in from BCFerries:
QUEEN OF SURREY READY FOR SERVICE AFTER $40 MILLION UPGRADE[/u]
VICTORIA – Just in time for the busy summer season, the Queen of Surrey returns to service today on the Langdale – Horseshoe Bay route following a $40 million extensive upgrade. The vessel’s extensive upgrade included significant mechanical and safety improvements, as well as upgraded passenger amenities that customers are certain to enjoy. This mid-life upgrade which took almost seven months to complete, will prepare the 25-year old vessel for another 20 years of service.
Some of the major project work included the following: • Main engine and shaft upgrades • Extensive steel replacement • Electrical upgrades • Installation of new emergency evacuation equipment • Modernization of service functions such as elevators, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems • Updated washrooms • Expanded and remodeled gift shop • New food service facilities • New interior design • New and improved passenger seating areas
Customer feedback is very important to BC Ferries. The company worked closely with the Southern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee to design a seating configuration that best meets the needs of its Langdale to Horseshoe Bay commuter customers.
The Queen of Surrey is the fourth in a series of five C-class vessels to go through a major mid-life upgrade. Similar upgrades have already been undertaken on the Queens of Coquitlam, Cowichan and Oak Bay. The next C-class vessel to undergo a mid life upgrade in late 2006 will be the Queen of Alberni.
The Washington Marine Group was contracted to undertake the Queen of Surrey project at its Vancouver Drydock in North Vancouver.

Forum members said it had the same layout as the Oak Bay. If thats true isn't this a lie: "Customer feedback is very important to BC Ferries. The company worked closely with the Southern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee to design a seating configuration that best meets the needs of its Langdale to Horseshoe Bay commuter customers."

The only difference I've seen in pictures, is the fact some of the rows of seats point each other, instead of all of the seats pointing in one direction, depending on what side of the vessel you're on.

The seats are facing each other instead of facing one way like the original design. That's her big difference from the other 3. Other than that she's identical to the Oaky even in costs $40 Million was thinking it would be just a bit more than that. Well you didn't get on the Surrey on her first day. but you will in her first 24 hours

Yup, viewing that webcam and something in my brain was screaming, telling me that I had to get down there. I saw the Coquitlam at Departure Bay (BCF webcam) and the Esquimalt at Langdale (Sunshine Coast webcam) and Surrey at Langdale (BCF webcam).
