I'm Surprised nobody put a topic up involving this yet. However I'm sure everybody on this board remembers what happened about 10:10 AM 365 Days Ago. Don't Remember? Here's a reminder. All this Because of a Cotter Pin! The Queen of Oak Bay Loses Power and Runs Aground 12 days after returning from her Mid Life Upgrade. Come to think of it if you do the math if this had happened to the Surrey instead of the Oak Bay the 12th day after returning from her MLU would be on July 9th, 2006

Yeah, I was thinking about that today. Just forgot to post about it, so thanks for marking todays anniversary for us. The Oak Bay grounding was the first accident with BC Ferries for a few years. Even though Sewells Marina was the unfortunate target, they were in good spirits in the end.

Such a disaster was unfortunate. Come to think of it if you do the math if this had happened to the Surrey instead of the Oak Bay the 12th day after returning from her MLU would be on July 9th, 2006 Better watch out for ferries on July 9th then!

I remember when I first heard about the accident from someone, they just said, "A ferry ran into the Marina at Horseshoe Bay" My original thought was "must have been the Surrey" A year ago, most of us thought the Queen of Surrey was cursed. Of course I found out it was the Queen of Oak Bay, and I was rather surprised.

At least the Oak Bay is still here. Not like the poor Queen of the North!

At least she didn't pull off a move like the Alberni did in 1979 or the Coquitlam did a year later in drydock causing millions more in damage (I'm talking about tipping over) we're all happy

I went to Horseshoe Bay today on the 250, and had a fabulous dinner at the resturant near the Walk-on passenger terminal building. I saw the Cowichan, Coquitlam, Capilano, Esquimalt and Surrey. And we were sitting at the top under some umberellas on the top deck of the resturant. Just wonderful. I recommend it to everybody on this board, but I forget the name, Moorage something I think.
