I think our next trip should be to Saltspring. I am there August 1-22. And this time I have a 95% chance for drives to where ever (since my mom lives there). Could go to Saltspring, do a round trip on the How Sound Queen and return on the nanny (going over view Swartz hey I haven't done the brunch this year). But seriously the 11AM is not to early for us who like to sleep in (cough Graham cough).

Okay, but I'm away almost every day in August, visiting friends in Comox (and maybe some in Powell River, too  ) I might be able to drive down to visit you folk for the day (climb aboard the Howe Sound Queen) and get in a day trip. Now, before we decide 100% on Saltsprings are there any more suggestions for islands? Just wondering. |

That's ok, I can only make it late july or very late august/early september. Or, if and when the Teacher Strike occurs.

Best time for me, August 1-22 or Sept 8-15 (since I am on Saltspring on those dates as well as tomorow until next Sat.)

Mayne Island I would be more interested in doing as I have been to SSI many times! I'm not a huge fan of Saltspring or Mayne -  - visited both many times. If you want scenery, look no further then Saturna. If it's ferry watching you want, check out Port Washington or Otter Bay on Pender. And what would we do ? Would we meander around the island, or look a ferries from Georgina Point which is conveniently located a long ways from Village Bay? Or, stay at Village Bay, and just view the ferries from there? The alternative is to do what Chris suggested a while ago: Viewing DPTB ferries from Newcastle.  |

Pender is no where near as good for ferry watching as Mayne and Galiano. I wouldent go Pender myself but I would do Saturna too as I have never actually been off the ferry at Saturna and explored the island. If we went to Mayne I would probably drive. If we get a few cars this time we wouldent have to walk.
