Oh, that's interesting that they're using the slide this time with the Alberni. I guess BC Ferries is starting to re-think the chute idea, seeming they're putting it on the Super C's?

That's intresting. I wonder if they'll install them on the other "C" Classes if it works well? I Also wonder if this is going to be in the same place as the other "C" Classes?

Isn't the slide what they used to have on the Alberni? I think they were using a slide when it ran aground in Active Pass.

After searching Google for some pictures, I found that the Queen of Nanaimo may already be fitted with this slide. See this for yourself. And is this company not based in Australia? Well check this out. Compared to the company's logo from the link Cascade provided:

I bet you anything the New West will get the Same thing in her upgrade and the Burnaby in her upgrade a year later

here is a question about equipment that maybe engineer or notmuchlonger might be able to answer. it seems that the rigid hull inflatables onboard the ships are sporting new outboards almost yearly, are these a fleet wide lease program? i am guessing the hours on them are not to high and they would be a good purchase for somebody looking for a new outboard

Kyle, Not sure if they are leased or not. I can try to find out. Ours have a Galleon Marine sticker on them, which I think is a Richmond Dealer. We are running Mercs which were switched over from Yamaha a few years ago. When there is a problem with an engine not running right or any othe r problem with a boat, the entire boat is swapped for a loaner from DPM.

thanks for the response notmuchlonger, i am thinking i might contact galleon marine and ask them. i know that the fish camps (oak bay marine group, etc) are all leased. i also know that they are bagged on. but i believe the hours would be rather low on the ones on the ferries

Yes they would be very low hours. At best I'd say ours might get an hour a week. Unless we actually have to use them for real.
