Yes I know, the Circlepac trip is still fresh in most of our minds. But I've been thinking of a few other trips we should consider doing sometime in the coming months.
One trip that would be quite interesting, is to do a Northern Gulf Islands trip, excluding the Queen Charlotte Islands. This part of the trip is optional. This trip would include taking a trip on the Quinitsa to Denman, then on to either the Kahloke or Tachek, to Hornby, and back. Then we either combine this next trip with it, or we start from here. We head North to Campbell River, and hop on to the Powell River Queen to Quadra. Then we catch the Tenaka to Cortes, and then back to Campbell River. Depending on the time of the day, we spend the night in Campbell River. The next day we head up to Port Mcneil, and jump on to the Quadra Queen II, and do a round trip. Then hopefully we can time it just right to see the Queen of Prince Rupert to either arrive or leave. Also, depending on what time of the day it is, we'll probably have to spend one more night in either Port Hardy or Port Mcneil. Whichever is cheaper. The next day, we conclude the trip by making our way home. For the Quadra-Cortes, and Denman-Hornby, we would need to all cram into a vehicle or two, and split the costs of the ferry fare, because if all of us drive over by ourselves, the total cost of the trip would be overwhelmingly expensive. For me that is, I don't know about anyone else. There's no rush to do this trip, because this is just a suggestion so far. But I think taking a trip on the Tenaka during a stormy day could be interesting.
The next trip, as Karl mentioned earlier, would be the most costly one, but would probably be the longest and most interesting. This trip would be to take the Inside Passage trip on the Queen of Prince Rupert, on the first Anniversary of the Queen of the Norths sinking, March 22. Once we arrive at Prince Rupert, we stay aboard, and go over to the Charlotte Islands, and possibly doing a round trip on the Kwuna for fun. Then, you probably guessed it, we head south on the Queen of Prince Rupert. I'm not sure if I could attend this one, because I don't know what my College schedule is like yet.
The third trip I've also been thinking about, is going back out to the Jervis inlet, and squeezing a round trip on the Queen of Chilliwack, and then returning home all in one one day. Time would be tight on that one.
Anyways, just thought I would suggest this. These little trips we have are so interesting, because we all end up bringinga few of our treasured BC Ferry items to show and tell.
Other suggestiong for other trips are also welcome on this thread ;D

You actually would have to get off the Queen of Prince Rupert as you have to check in for each trip. Plus the times in between are a few hours before she sails. Either that or stay in hotel in Prince Rupert but maybe after being on the Rupert 18+ hours you might want too hang around in Rupert, lol! But the Northern ferry tour would be awesome. If most people were planning to do the Rupert you could also squeeze in the QQ2 on that trip. Other wise two nights in Campbell River and one in Port Hardy would be the way to do it I think. hmm, I wonder how I could do that Jervis Inlet trip? I would like to do a trip on the Chilliwack on that run too. Things to figure out.

If you guys did the Inside passage you could involve the Nicola. She runs to Port SImpson out of Prince Rupert.

The Jervis Inlet trip seems quite appealing to me

Jervis Inlet is the one for me. I know one of the crew members on the Jervis Inlet Route if he's working on the sailing we'd eventually take I might be able to get us up to the bridge and possibly down to the engine room.

Yeah I would do the Jervis Inlet trip. That would be cool to get on the Wack again. Let us know ahead of time a date so I can schedule it off.

The Jervis Inlet trip what we would have to do is take the 9:20am sailing out of Horseshoe Bay to be able to make the 12:20pm departure from Earls Cove. Get off the ferry at Saltery Bay and we would have to wait around from 1:10pm to 3:30pm which is like 2 hrs 20 mins. Maybe during that time we could get a tour of the ship as someone mentioned they knew someone who works on the run, while she is docked there during that layover. That might be cool. Otherwise we could go on a day when they have an extra 1:25pm sailing from Saltery Bay but that is only on holiday weekends so we might just have to hang around Saltery Bay for 2 hrs.
Other options for this would be
The 7:20am out of HSB to make the 10:20am from Earls Cove and the 11:20am out of Saltery Bay. Then any afternoon Surrey sailing back to HSB. This one might not be the best one as it would be kinda early for most people coming from Van. Even me if I was staying over in Van.
or
The 4:25pm out of Earls Cove and the 5:25pm out of Saltery Bay, you would have to catch the 8:20pm Surrey back to HSB. If you dont mind getting in later and a few night trips. The first suggestion and this later one I would prefer more than the earlier sailing.
I am not trying to plan this all out for you Chris as this was your idea but this some of my suggestions for the trip.

Thanks for doing some research, Karl. I think catching the 9:20 out of Horseshoe Bay would be the best, as it gives the Islanders a bit of time to head over to the mainland, on the 6:30am sailing. Anything later than that, and it will be dark while we're coming back, which probably isn't a good idea on that Highway 101, because if it's raining, it makes it a bit more dangerous for us to high tail it back to Langdale. Just some common sense to consider, as it does like to rain on the West Coast here, especially on the "Sunshine Coast".

ah yeah, that's true. Well I think I would probably come over the night before so I dont have to get up too early. Where can you park at Earls Cove though?? But lets leave out Friday and Sunday as those are busy days, lol!

October would be a little bit too soon. But I was hoping to shoot for November, for the Northern Gulf Islands trip. But if majority rules on taking the Chilliwack in November, then by all means, we'll do that trip in November.

Well, I can't do it on a normal weekend, as I have various activities happening on saturdays and sundays. Well, sundays might be an exception, but not Saturdays.

Winter Vessel Returns - Oct 2 Posted September 28, 2006
On Monday, October 2, the 115-vehicle M.V. Queen of Chilliwack is expected to begin service as the winter vessel on the Saltery Bay – Earls Cove route.
The vessel will resume service with the scheduled 5:40 am sailing from Saltery Bay.
Updated information will be provided if there is any change to the expected return date of the Queen of Chilliwack.
So anytime after October 2nd for the Jervis Inlet trip will be good.

Oct or Nov would be good. Not on a long weekend though as it's crazy busy on long weekends. So we'll let Chris decide.

Ok, I'll start to get the ball rolling.
The 21st or 28th of October are the dates to pick from. They are both on Saturdays, but are not on long weekends.
Here's the itinerary that I think might be able to fit most peoples schedules, which give members from the Island a small amount of time to catch the Route 2 Ferries:
8:30am - Everyone meets at Horseshoe Bay 9:20am - Queen of Surrey Departs Horsehoe Bay for Langdale 10:00am - Arrive at Langdale, begin journey to Earls Cove 11:30am - Arrive at Earls Cove (if we don't stop anywhere along the way) We leave cars at Earls Cove, and walk on as foot passengers 12:20am - Queen of Chilliwack departs Earls Cove for Saltery Bay 1:10pm - Arrive at Saltery Bay (...Now what..?) 3:30pm - Queen of Chilliwack departs Saltery Bay for Earls Cove 4:20pm - Arrive at Earls Cove, head for Langdale 5:50pm - Arrive at Langdale 6:30pm - Queen of Surrey Departs Langdale for Horseshoe Bay 7:10pm - Arrive at Horseshoe Bay, we all go back take off our BCF Enthusiest shirts and hats, and return to our normal lives
I'd still like to do the Northern Island Ferry trip though. I'm thinking that we should scrap taking the Denman-Hornby Ferries, and just stick with Quadra-Cortes, stay a night in Campbell River, and possibly go up to Port McNeil and have a ride on the QQII. November might be the ideal month for this trip though, so still early days yet to plan this one.
Karl, Graham and I have been considering doing a day trip or two on Route 30, with taking the Queen of Alberni one way, and returning on the Queen of New Westminster. Still, no dates for that trip yet. Is anyone interested in that trip?
Queen of Sidney - I'd like to make an effort to make another trip out to the Queen of Sidney, to get some more video footage, on a video camera that's a little more reliable. Plus I have my camera that I got at Christmas to replace some of the shots that I got with the brick I used to use.
Queen of Nanaimo - Possibly a trip in the New year to take, to make a day trip on the Nanny while it does its Milk Run in the Gulf Islands.
Anyways, I need lots of input. So let the posts fly !

If we do go up there we can also stop in Kelsey Bay and snap some pics of the old ferry terminal. I was also thinking if the Tachek comes up here anytime soon, we can go to Texada, but do a return trip on the next sailing.
