Cascade,
Thanks for the suggestions. I noticed they had the plans for the Cy Peck and the Pender Queen on the wall, in the CPR section of the Museum. I never bothered to get a picture of it for some reason...They have quite the model collection there, and the detail on them is amazing.
How does one go about getting the Magazine? Is there a registration on the Internet, or do I have to go all of the way back down there and subscribe?

I really like those pics from your tour. It is too bad that our ferry system down here in the states hasn't the time or the desire to have something like that.
Apparently, WSF has thrown alot of items in the trash over the years that should have been on display. I guess a government agency can't budget for a museum for their own memorabilia.

Now those look very nice. Wish I could go there someday. And Personally I think the Queen of Chilliwack looked better when she looked exactly like the model in the Museum

I wou encourage anyone (of you're ever in the Victoria area) to visit the maritime museum. It's a great museum with not only great history/exhibits on BCF, but of other maritime stories in BC (Canadian Navy, Hudson's Bay Company.)
Certainly worth seeing.

I've seen some cool stuff disappear over the years. A few things that were thrown away were rescued by yours truly with management consent. But I'm still amazed at how hard old schedules are to obtain.

It's a great museum. I haven't been there for a couple years, but I think I'll try to make it this fall sometime. The ferry room is awesome, but it's only a small part. I love the detailed models of some of the old steamships and ocean liners. There's so much maritime history in this province.
I'm pretty sure that the BC Maritime Museum is the official BC Ferries archive. Or did that go out the window when they were "privatized"?
The Vancouver Maritime Museum is good too. Without going off topic, does anyone know what's going to happen to the Vancouver Maritime Museum in the future? I'm thinking of that new Maritime center that was talked about (it might be a reality, I haven't heard lately) just east of the Lonsdale Quay?
So far I have been quite successful in introducing my 15 month old daughter to boats. She loves the water and whenever she sees a ferry (or other boat) she smiles and makes an engine sound:)

Well I actually went to the Maritime Museum today as I met up with Graham who was over for the day and we checked out the BC Ferries exhibit at the musuem. It has been years since I have been there so it would good to go back. The stuff they have there is awesome. And the BC Ferries models are really great too. Anyone who hasent been should check it out, it's worth it.

Karl, yes that is my wife! She's not too interested in ferries, but she has to put up with me so she knows more than the average person. I think one reason she posted on the forum that one time was to get back at me for deleting her original membership since she hadn't contributed in over a year:)

I have been to the Maritime Museum, a number of times over the years. It was located in another building before it moved to it's present location at the Old Courthouse building.(I don't remember where, but it was smaller than where they are now.) For many years the BC Ferries Exhibit was just a couple of the models of the ferries, and the Court Room was under renovation and off limits. When we went last summer with our out-of-town guests, we were quite amazed at the work that was done since our last visit. The BC Ferries exhibit was awesome, and the Court Room was open.
When Yarrows Shipyards closed down in 1994-5, they went through all the stuff, that was on site. Finding a number of things that had been forgotten about---including blue prints of various ships. They donated a lot of things to the Maritime Museum, including a model of a ship that was on display in the main office.
The Sidney Historical Museum has a section on Transportation---BC Ferries being one of the displays there. I went there a few years ago, as part of Tourist in Your Home Town.
