In the last year or two, BC Ferries' website posted an open request for people to submit designs for bicycle racks to install in ferries. Whatever became of that?

There's a bick rake on the main cardeck of the SoVI, forward end, starboard side. It's at the end of the lane were the big trucks and buses park. Not sure if there is one at the stern (for heading the other way).
I haven't seen any on other ships yet. Maybe this is the first??

I frequently like to bike the Gulf Islands (or I did, anyway) via the Queen of Nanaimo. I was patient for such a thing to come about, but never happened.
I am also disappointed at BCF's lack of effort put towards bikes at their terminals. At Tsawwassen they force you along a narrow path to a ticket booth (part of the main vehicle booths). Quick question: what if it's closed? It happened to me, I was forced to use another booth with cars. Then, you enter holding. You come to the end. You sit there for about 15 seconds. Then you wonder: Now what? You wait. But, I said "hell with it" and did a bike tour around the terminal.
I await improvements.

It would probably be a good idea to have a bike-through area where you could purchase your tickets and have a path that would direct you to the dock

This is veering off the topic a bit, but it's true that the authorized bicycle approach to the Tsawassen terminal involves crossing EVERY lane of motorized traffic. I've done this more than a few times, including towing our child in a bike trailer. This lane-crossing is nerve-wracking.

Doesn't sound good. They should really do something for bikers.

At Swartz Bay I have seen a sign on the road that goes down along side the terminal for bikes. A seperate bike entrance to the toll booths but not sure if they have a seperate toll booth. I wouldent think so as there arent too many people taking there bikes on.
