Oh I laughed when I read this
Sailing Cancellations Posted November 30, 2006
Posted @ 3:23 pm
Service between Alliford Bay and Skidegate is temporarily suspended while the MV Kwuna remains caught on the ramp at Skidegate.
During loading on a falling tide for the scheduled 1:40 pm sailing, the vessel became stuck and with the current falling tide, unable to be dislodged.
Tug assistance is on the scene, but it is not likely that the Kwuna will be able to refloat until later in the day when the tide begins to rise again after 4:00 pm this afternoon.
There is no damage to the vessel and no pollution to the environment.
It is expected that the Kwuna will be re-floated and service restored by 8:00 pm this evening. Further updates to follow.
BC Ferries apologizes for any inconvenience as a result.
Never heard of it getting stuck like that before! lol!

Does anyone know of this happening in the past, or how often?

What do they do overnight? According to the schedule, the vessel stays at Alliford Bay, so obviously on a falling tide they can't leave it at the ramp. Do they tie up just offshore? That is a funny one. Maybe one day they'll build a proper dock.

they use the ramps becuse of the cost of building a ramp at the locations is far grater, this may be a common occurance, but not that shes ever remained stuck before.
