Does the Queen of Prince Rupert have cabins available to passengers??? I was looking at the fares for the inside passage overnight service and it says they have two berth cabins. But how many?? I thought there was none on the Rupert or is that just for the handicapped although it dosent say anything about it so I am just wondering. Anyone on here who works for the ferries who knows, info would be good.

One of the issues following the sinking of the Queen of the North was that of crew cabins being below the ship's water-line.
My understanding is that cabins above the waterline are now for crew and passengers with special needs, although there may be a few for other passengers.
Not sure what the arrangements will be on board the Northern Adventure.

QPR still has some cabins available. I had one Yesterday, top (Promenade) deck with shower. We were on a 'wait list' for a cabin and got one, with two berths. Looks as if all of the lower deck (1st deck above car deck) cabins are taken up by crew, with the exception of the one handicapped room. On the upper deck it appears that half of the cabins remain available to passengers.
The Sonia will have cabin space for 300 passengers apparently, in addition to separate cabins on the top deck for all of crew.
BTW, the deck below the car deck was once called the Lower or Tween Deck.

Cause I am thinking of a trip March 21st Northbound from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert and Southbound March 23rd and was wondering if cabins would already be taken if they sell out pretty fast. I know Graham is thinking of going too. I'll have to call BC Ferries to find out I guess. How many cabins are on that deck anyways??

I think there are about 30 cabins on the Prom (Boat) Deck of the QPR. I would guess that about half of those will be used by crew. The cabins are likely all booked already due to it being Spring Break week. If you want one get them to put you on the 'wait list'. That worked for me. Just so you know people do sleep in the forward and mid-ship lounges if they can't (or choose not to) get a cabin. The lights are turned down in these locations at night. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and mat, maybe also a pillow. You can actually get a decent night's sleep in the lounges if you are prepared. I have done this many times before and was prepared to do it on the trip I just completed. They also have showers available a cost of $2.

I just called BC Ferries tonight and the they guy said there are 12 cabins for the public and for the sailing on the 21st of March they are all available at this time. I was suprised as I thought they would all be booked. I am thinking of doing the trip March 21st which is the 1 year since the Queen of the North sank. Graham is probably joining me too.

There are suppose to be open houses after she goes north so if they have one in Port Hardy I might head up there for that. I will plan to take the Northern Adventure this summer. I am probably going up on the Queen of Prince Rupert in March now so I would of done the positioning cruise if they had one. This time last year they had the notice up about a positioning cruise so they dont this year so who knows if they will have one.
