i have a frequency book in a box somewhere. when i dig it out i will post the frequencies that bc ferries use. on a vhf radio the following channels are used Channel 4- coast guard channel 11-victoria traffic channel 12- vancouver traffic channel 16- for calling purposes only (monitored by Rescue Coordination Centre) channel 22a- coast guard vancouver traffic covers vancouver harbour and howe sound. route 2 vessels are monitor channel 12 and report to vancouver traffic between horseshoe bay and cape roger curtis, at this point they sign out of vancouver traffic and sign into victoria traffic. victoria traffic covers georgia strait south. and amongst the gulf islands. route 1, route 9 and all the southern gulf island routes monitor channel 11. will have more frequencies and channels and what they are used for when i find the book.

BCF ship to terminal/ship: 155.910 (all routes & ships) BCF Terminal Loading: 458.6375 & 458.1125 I'm missing a frequency I would love to get if anyone knows what it is... I'm looking for the frequency used for communications onboard the ships, and it's not one of the ones listed above.

When the MV SONIA enters the Strait of Juan De Fuca, her navigators will most likely speak to SEATTLE TRAFFIC on 5a (156.250). At Race Rocks, when she alters course to Victoria, a hand off to VICTORIA TRAFFIC on 11 (156.550) should occur.
Let's hope the folks on Pier 36 Seattle don't call her SKANSONIA (in reference to the ferry moored on Lake Union north).

That sounds about right, though I think about half the people working in Seattle VTS weren't born when the Skansonia stood down for the last time. ;D
Bonus point for mentioning the last surviving all-wood ferry from the WSF fleet.

Hi everyone! I've put together a website that lists all the radio frequencies licensed to BCF with Industry Canada. www.broadcastwest.ca/bin/BCF.htmIf anyone has any updates or corrections let me know and I’ll make sure to keep the list as up to date as I can. I would like to enlist the help of anyone that can help sort out what frequencies are ACTUALY being used onboard the ships and at the terminals. BCF has licenses for all its terminals, but I’m fairly sure that not every channel is in use at every terminal, and onboard ship. (With the exception of 155.91, the common ship to terminal/ship frequency for the entire fleet). Happy scanning! K.
