Start off with a genuine Flying Phil quote...
I think the best thought to describe the beginning of the Ferry services is the reasoning Gaglardi used to justify Tsawwassen as a terminal location...
[glow=red,2,300]"I figured the positives cancelled out the negatives and the negatives substantiated the positives."[/glow]
That is the essence of the original BC Ferry Corporation right there... eternal optimism that actually made things go.

btw to everyone, please, only constructive criticism in this thread, and I'm sure that you all know what I mean when I say that. Try looking in books, for example - it tends to relieve my tensions atleast, and might yours as well when it comes to ferries and understanding politics, which, unfortunately in this province are deeply interwoven, and this will not change despite the most powerful rhetoric.
Thanks, Graham

Oh Mr Fluge...
My quote is from memory of a recent statement by a certain politician...

My Quote comes from "The Ships of BC" Page 106 "The Psychic Side of Shipping".
"Have you Ever Made Love to Two Identical Twins?" - Captain John Horn - After being asked why Two Identical Sisters the Queen of Vancouver and Queen of Victoria Could Handle so differently.

My favourite quote, uttered by myself a second ago, is:
"There should be an international route between Bainbridge Island and Jervis Inlet....."

That sounds like Dan's Idea of a route from Bremerton to Squamish.

That sounds like Dan's Idea of a route from Bremerton to Squamish. It was actually supposed to be a clever joke.... ;D

You just said that twice, all these crystal balls of dream routes to steel electrics being pulled out of service is giving me a headache. ANYWAYS: I got no comment to this cartoon that I saw in the times colonist. Click here (WARNING CRUDE HUMOR) edited to repair broken link

Yes the Bremerton to Squamish ferry will be called Dan's Whistler Coastal Express. And of course the ferry will be met by a bus called Dan's Whistler Motor Express. Right to the base of the lifts mind you not just the town. Right Dan? ;D

Thanks Jim, for satisfying my need for approval. ;D You just saved me a few sessions of therapy.....

Glen Clark made a quoted comment about the cost of the Fast Cats being tracked right down to the rolls of toilet paper.

Another quote, this from my grandfather, who lived in Penticton. During the 1970's, we would travel from Nanaimo to Penticton to visit him.
He'd often ask us about our trip, asking "Did you take the Government ferries?".
That simple question is loaded with history of the times. Times when there was a CP car ferry service from Nanaimo, and the days of Black Ball were still in recent memory.
Yes, We took BC Ferries, then known to some as "the Government Ferries".
