Anyone else sick of all the "AWESOME" advertisements littering BC Ferry terminals? Every single ad I walked past at Tsawwassen was "Awesome" this and "Awesome" that.. mostly referring to the new ferries and new changes coming to the terminals. Usually accompanied by a picture of some nutty looking person.
I generally consider most BC Ferries ads quite smart, good looking, and sometimes humorous. But these "Awesome" ads sound like they were written by a class of grade 6 students.

I agree, it sounds like they are running out of ideas. It is not intellectual and looks rather hideous and stupid. It is exactly the same thing with TV ads. What I do not get is why they can not come up with a better catch phrase or something more subtle with what is happening. Also, there information for customers has been rapidly decreasing with getting information on sailing cancellations. Even WSF would post a notice within half an hour where as with BCFS, it took 3 long hours.

They are rather juvenile in my opinion.

It just goes to show you that BCFS has dull advertising. They Could Use other words, not just "Awesome" maybe like...Wonderful! Amazing! Brilliant! Stunning!

Guess it sounds like the best solution is to keep watching the ferries, and ignore the ads.

The recently-released 2006/07 BCFS Annual Report also includes similar stylings.
At the top of many of the report's pages, appear in-context quotes in the styles of customer-comments. These comments appear to be written by, or intended for, Grade-6ers too.
I hope that this type of blend of silly and serious is not an indication of a new trend in business communication (for BCFS and for other entities).
