I couldn't find or think of a more appropriate thread for this article from March that I just stumbled upon... www.graycom.com

Wow, they really are quite sensitive. Do we need to ask what they think of this forum?

According to coxnnick, the forum hasn't come up in any banter that he's heard of at Fleet Office. Although, i can see why BCFS pulled the book with references to safety equipment pointing to the QotN sinking.

That's an interesting issue to discuss. Is the "Passages Gift Shop" to be a haven of true free speech, or does the company have the right to restrict items from it's own bookshop?
Before we condem BCFS for restricting freedom of written-word, lets consider that BCFS owns and operates its own onboard bookshops, and the bookshop's purpose is obviously to generate revenue and to "promote the brand". While you buy a newspaper you can also buy a BC Ferries toy.....
So BCFS has every right to restrict or control content in it's bookshops. Let's not be fooled into thinking that those Passages Gift Shops are anything but a cash-register and promotional-outlet for the company.....
This is not the same thing as Bob's Independent Book Store on Main St. being pressured by suppliers to restrict what he sells.

I tend to agree, BC Ferries has the right to choose what it promots and sells.
