Story behind the Ramp of Alert Bay

To accommodate commuters during the upcoming Alert Bay ramp closure planned for Sunday, March 26, the Spirit of Yalis will provide water taxi service for walk on passengers traveling between Alert Bay and Port McNeill.

Passengers can board the 49-person Spirit of Yalis at the government dock in Alert Bay and the Township municipal dock in Port McNeill.

Water taxi service will begin operation with a 9:40 am departure from Alert Bay, operate on the same schedule as the regular vessel, and end service at 8:55 pm at Sointula.

All vehicle service provided by the Quadra Queen II to and from Alert Bay will be temporarily suspended on Sunday, March 26 for one day only, due to a dock closure required to replace the ramp bearings and related fittings.

Vehicle and passenger service to Port McNeill and Sointula will not be affected.

The ramp is expected to re-open in time for the 6:45 am sailing of the Quadra Queen II on Monday, March 27.

BC Ferries thanks our customers for their patience as we complete this necessary maintenance to our terminal facilities.
