I did my annual trip today down to the Pier at Lonsdale to see how the refits are going on the Burnaby and Surrey. You will be suprised to know that they have now removed the upper solarium. No, not the original one. The one that stuck out behind the bridge that was added when it was the PMIII I believe. There is still a staircase to access that deck, just the railings are now substituting the glass. Now she looks almost like she did before she was leased to the Americans several years ago now. Here is a pic of it, and I have some more pics that will be added to my fotopic site in a few moments.

David Hahn said they were going to try and restore it, obviously he was wrong. Too bad, I would have liked to get up there - but then again it really wasn't a neccesity by any means

It was interesting, albeit out of place, to see the Queen of Burnaby with that solarium in the first place; now we'll have a B/V top (above the car deck) without the post-stretch angled-facade leading from the monkey island / bridge to the funnel.

Is she out on Sea trials yet? I caught the 9:00 ferry to Victoria on saturday and saw what I thought was the Queen of Nanaimo, it was definately one of the B-Class, docking at Tswwassen, but as we came around the corner out of the Active Pass the Queen of Nanaimo was docking at Mayne Island. Could it have been the Queen of Burnaby?
