I guess those V's are consuming to much and giving to little! FUEL SURCHARGE ADJUSTMENT EFFECTIVE JUNE 22, 2006VICTORIA – The BC Ferry Commissioner has issued a ruling on the calculation of an extraordinary increase to offset the continued rising cost of fuel. In his January 20, 2006 ruling, the Commissioner stated he would consider an additional fuel surcharge effective June 2006 if actual and forecast fuel prices continued to escalate. BC Ferries’ annual fuel costs rose to $75 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2006, up from $57 million last year. Effective Thursday, June 22, 2006, a fuel surcharge of 3.2 per cent for major routes connecting Vancouver Island to the Lower Mainland and 9.6 per cent on all other routes will be applied to all fares, excluding the Mill Bay route. The Mill Bay – Brentwood Bay route will not be subject to an additional fuel surcharge at this time. This is due to the vessel’s operating environment and relatively light fuel consumption. The Commissioner has also set a reduction target for fuel burned each year, requiring a one per cent reduction in each of 2006/07 and 2007/08. The Commissioner’s complete ruling is available at www.bcferries.com. BC Ferries’ Fuel Consumption Reduction Plan is also posted on the website at www.bcferries.com/about/More_Information.html#more. Attached is a fuel surcharge table that shows the total fuel surcharge on a route by route basis.

OMG That is sooooooooooooo gay. I am going on 4 minor routes this summer (most of them 2 or more) And the charge is 10% more. That is raisong my budget quite a bit. Argh, I'm starting to hate BC Ferries! And when I was watching Early News (Randene Neill Today ) It showed The PRQ, Queen of Coquitlam (I think) and the Queen of Capilano. I'll bet ya that I am paying 10 more dollars than before ARGGGGGHHHH!

Well, I'm pretty pissed off too, but don't forget, our oil prices are a bit extreme, so you know it's going towards running our ferries.

The people on the little islands are getting ripped off the most. In the past year their fares have gone up 23%. Soon they're going to be home to the rich and no one else.

They should put a 100% increase on the Mill Bay run worth of fuel surcharges and take it down to 6% or 7% on other minor routes. Seriously, that is pretty pathetic.
I guess it's time time to move to bio-diesel or hydrogen fuel.

It is now almost the same for a car and driver to go to Hornby Island (40 minutes, return) as it is to go Tsawwassen - Duke Point (2 hours). That is without commuter tickets. Visitors to the smaller islands are being singled out for a special hosing.

For those Island Vacationers out there: For a 4 day vacation, you could buy a sailpass just for a return trip on Rte 2 or 30, and save money! These surcharges are getting out of hand.

Mmm-hmm. It appears as though Deborah has made yet another feebish attempt at persuading often travellers, or as we call them, Frequent-Flyers, to come back to BCF.
And who's next in line for Miss Marshall's Frequent-Ferrier points? None other then Mr. Sarcastic.
*sigh* The cycle of BCF Executives... Deb makes a statement, and Dave corrects her. Deb makes a statement, and Dave corrects her. Deb makes a statement, and Dave corrects her...
Dave and Deb... always a team.
