BCF has commissioned the building of one new vessel to replace the Queen of Prince Rupert. The German shipyard Flensburger has won a 91.8 million Euro contract, or approx $133 million Cdn. The vessel is to be in service for the spring of 2009. (BCF web site)
Cascade advises us the Nisos Mykonos, cost $52 million US to build, or approx $58 million Cdn. My goodness Mr. Hahn, thats $78 million more for the German built ship. At that rate we could have bought two Nisos Mykonos, and had money left over. The Nisos was at one time your first choice for the replacement of the QON. The infamous "Sonia" cost even less than the Nisos Mykonos to build. It appears your people go into these purchase agreements with their heads in the sand, and all you do is say OK lets buy it!!!
