Sailing Cancellations - Sept 7
Posted September 07, 2006
The Queen of Cowichan is experiencing a mechanical problem and as a result, the vessel will miss the first round trip. The 6:30 am sailing exit Departure Bay and the 8:30 am sailing exit Horseshoe Bay are cancelled. BC Ferries regrets any inconvenience this situation may cause its customers.

Once again a engine doesn't work right. Can't go one month without it.

They canceled the second round trip too. The Esquimalt is providing extra service to fill in until they get her fixed, or the Oak Bay passes her.

Well, it looks like the Esquimalt is the ONLY ship on Route 2 now!!
The Current Conditions page doesn't show a 1230 departure and has "Mechanical Difficulties" listed as the reason. A look at the webcam at 1310 shows the Oak Bay is still in dock!!
The Esquimalt is scheduled to leave at 1430 and they're expecting the Cowichan to leave at 1500.

The Queen of Oak Bay left Departure Bay around 1:15pm. The 12:30pm departure from HSB they never had cause the Cowichan was out of service. The Queen of Esquimalt left HSB at 12pm. I flew over Nanaimo this morning and was suprised to see the Cowichan docked in the main berth. You think they would of had her in the secondary berths so that the Oak Bay and the Esquimalt could dock more easily. Departure Bay looked pretty busy this morning.

The Cowichan's emergency power supply failed thus the emergency lights wouldn't work and all the fire doors won't stay open. I know this because BC Ferries had to fly the replacement part on our airline so I had a chance to ask the Mechanic what the problem was. Thought people here might be interested in this info :-)
