Well, I think I recall this once happening to the Quinsam. I can't recall when, but I'm pretty sure the Bowen Queen came into replace her temporarily.
I can't see why they can't bring in a tug and barge to replace her... or maybe take the Nimpkish off Central Coast for a short while...

or maybe take the Nimpkish off Central Coast for a short while... I wouldn't want to be a crew member on the Nimpkish, sailing to the Charlottes to fill in......just getting there in October weather would be scary on the Nimpky.

Well, I think I recall this once happening to the Quinsam. I can't recall when, but I'm pretty sure the Bowen Queen came into replace her temporarily. As a past commuter from Gabriola, I can recall several occasions where sailings were delayed up to 30 minutes due to debris getting caught in one of the Quinsams four screws. You could always tell, by when the traffic off loaded and the gate swung down, followed with a crewman strapping on a life vest, then attaching a ladder overboard to the railing, as they headed down to the prop with a boat hook in hand to clear the propeller. Very frustrating when you have been up all night!

Why were you up all night? Were you on night-shift work and returning home for day-sleep?
I wonder how rare it would be for night-shift workers to work in Nanaimo, live on Gabriola, and commute back & forth, but in reverse-direction from the majority of the commuters....
