There's at least 9 different service notices up about students travelling on BC Ferries. I'll post an example, and I'll let you view the rest. Student Travel UpdatePosted October 26, 2006[/size] Effective immediately, a new form is being used on the Bowen Island route to document free student travel occurring outside usual student commuter sailings. Student commuter sailings are those sailings on which the bulk of the students travel when going to and from school (on designated school days only). Students travelling to attend school or junior association events outside of commuter sailings will be asked to complete and sign a “Free Travel Acknowledgement Form” at the ticket booth and obtain a boarding pass if walking on the ferry. There is no change to the existing policy related to free student and junior association travel, only to the procedure being used to document the travel. BC Ferries thanks our customers for their cooperation as we implement this new procedure to record student travel. That notice sounds consistent with BCFS's task of trying go have better records of #'s of passengers on a given sailing, and passenger type.
Funny, I never realised that those student sailings were free.....makes sense now that I think about it.
So if little Madison gets a detention, and arrives at the ferry late because of that, she gets to sign this form, in order to ride free.

as it is those sailings for students to get from home to school should be free. it is no different then the kid in Hedley that gets a school bus ride for free to Princeton so s/he can get to highschool

Excellent to see, with the Cadet programme we often had problems with our Cadets having to pay to get on the ferry - but now that there'sd paperwork attached to the process a greater level of consistancy should develop.
Tnumbs Up, BCFS.
