Yes, many thanks for the YouTube posting (Discovery is not on my basic cable package). Seeing that the piece was about the Alberni, they cannot have forgotten her as the 5th C .... she is, after all, the redheaded step-child of the family. Dunno how people that are supposedly in the know, manage to screw things this simple up. I am pointing fingers at both Jay and Mark on this one .....

Thus continues the tradition ALL stories that centre on BCFS have...

There was quite a few inaccuracies in the show. The biggest one would be the statement about the most ambitious ship building effort in the history of BCF's. Let me see, between 1959 and 66 we built, here in BC, the Sidney, Tsawwassen, Victoria, Vancouver, Esquimalt, Saanich, Burnaby, New Westminster, Nanaimo, Prince Rupert, Bowen class (3) and Q of the Islands. I may have missed some. That is fourteen vessels in 8 years. Impressive!
Or perhaps they mean the history of BCFS's from 2003 to the present.

Or perhaps they mean the history of BCFS's from 2003 to the present. Perhaps, and of course, they did not frame the reference in any way, they were talking in terms of DOLLARS. Note that I am not saying "adjusted for 2007 dollars". It's not the most significant addition to the fleet, but perhaps in terms of dollars then and now, it can be qualified as the most ambitious ....... Just a thought, not defending this arguement, just putting it out there.

Probably since it is under BCFS but in the canadian history, the 1960s was a major shipbuilding period.

Loved the Video. Questioning the Errors.
On the Topic of the Biggest Shipbuilding Project: This plan is More like The Biggest Replacement Project in the Company's History.
The C Class Answer: I'm surprised they didn't say it was BCFS' Overhight Ship.
I'm also wondering if the Horsepower Fact is out of Order. 4000 Cars and 200 Passengers??

Welcome to American media, where mistakes don't matter and falling for propaganda and very easy to see through stories is the point, along with adding sugar to that hard cake below.

It was a fairly minor piece, meant to be a quick overview to the maintenance and renewal of the fleet, and I thought it was okay. I don't think anyone outside of ferry fans cares a toss how many C's there are. The ten or fifteen year plan might, arguably, call for the biggest bout of ship construction ever, if you're going by tonnage.

The way I read the Discovery Channel's schedule it would seem that this same show will be repeated in the morning at 6:00 am and 9:00 am Pacific, 23 May.
