Well, I thought I would make a page just to remember the Queen of the North, so if you have any memories, pics or anything at all about her, post it here! And remember the great ship that sailed our coast for many years, becoming a link to the outside world for many residents of the coast! She was a friend to many, a home to many and just a ferry to others. To me she was more like an old friend, one of the ferries that got me obsessed with ferries, I still remember buying my first BCF post card on the Queen of Sidney back in 1994, the post card was of the Queen of the North, I thought she was such a beautiful ship, well designed, and as I grew up I started to favour this ferry over all the others, she was a true flagship! RIP Queen of the North 1969-2006, You will be greatly missed by many!

I only got the chance to set foot on the Queen of the North twice. Once was at an open house for employees and familiy members at TSA after she was refurbished. I remember then wanting to take a cruise on her. Then the first actual cruise we took was back in 2005 when we did the positioning cruise from Port Hardy to TSA. I noticed standing on the upper deck her funnel as someone mentioned sounded like a jet for some reason. That was an awesome cruise from Port Hardy to TSA that day and I was planning to take the North up the Inside Passage last summer but that got all shot to hell when she sank. karlsferryphotos.fotopic.net/c1074264.html those are photos from that positioning cruise. I cant imagine all that stuff being underwater now. It's been a year and I can imagine what it looks like now down there. A toast to the North!! The true lady of the North! She is gone but she will not be forgotten!!

Fer-ry our prayers a-cross the wa-ter, kin-dle our hopes a light-house flame. A-ma-zing grace is most a-ma-zing, pra-ying for those we can-not name.
Rest in Peace, for the depth took you far too soon, but such is the life of a ship, and much better to be forever preserved at the bottom of the sea, than to be sent to the ship breakers. may god have mercy on the souls of those lost.

My father, brother and I went on her during the summer of 2004. We didn't take advantage of all the amenities onboard (buffet, user-pay lounge, cabins), but we enjoyed the trip anyways. You've got to love the swells of the Queen Charlotte Sound, but the scenery is extraordinary, too. I feel I could have enjoyed it better if I hadn't lived in such a beautiful province in the first place. But the trip was great, and even after the long 15 hours onboard, I wasn't tired of it. I could have went another couple days onboard, at least.

I wanted to go on her, but I just never got around to it. She was the most beautiful ship to serve on the coast. Her loss was like losing a close friend.

Thanks for posting that BCinNJ.
The interview of the crew member starts to show how the majority of the crew performed that day. The emotion in his voice started to choke me up too. I loved how the one female crew member brought flashlights and gave them to the kids who were upset and helped calm them down.

Many thanks, New Jersey, for the CBC clips.
I've heard just two of the interviews on CBC Vancouver; it was a treat to hear the others - broadcast on the Prince Rupert and Northern BC stations only, I guess.
Well done.

Gotta love CBC, but I thought they were not as "in-depth" as before which is getting me a bit worried on their quality if they are ready to downgrade to a Global style, that I'd hate so much!
