Does anyone know if the Garibaldi II is now part of the BC Ferries fleet.
There is a ship that resembles it at Deas Dock right now.

The ship that resembles the GII at Deas is in fact the Tachek, sister to the Quadra Queen II (shown below)

Right now the Garibaldi II is sitting at a dock under the Second Narrows Bridge in North Van.

In response to Deas: Today and Monday I was kayaking up there, and I did manage to get a glimpse of the Tachek for the first time in my life. No pics, though.

Thought you might like to know that the Garibaldi II was quietly sold earlier this summer by BC Ferries to a numbered BC company. She is in "storage" at Allied Shipyard, North Vancouver, with no apparent work in the immediate future.

I hope they put her to good use, as she's just languishing at Allied Shipyard right now...

It's funny cause she fits right in there with the boats she's tied next to.

I was at Deas a while back and had a chance to tour the Tachek. I couldn't believe the size of the engine room! They're doing some pretty significant cosmetic where to her.

Is she still under that AF Bridge? Is so, I might want to catch a glimpse of her on my ferry trip!

I beleive from my sources that the Garibaldi II is currently sitting beneath the Second Narrows Bridge, on the North Vancouver side, at Allied.
Although I may be wrong...

East side, you can spot it while crossing the bridge in a bus going northbound, first vessel rafted among many, after the first pylons.

You would have to go through the shipyard, which is private property I think.

If you went through the Shipyard, You'd definatly have to pull a Graham. Run in Like Anything, Take a Picture, Run out before anyone notices you. only to find out the photo came out blurry so you have to do it again.

Does anyone know how to get on the road that is beside her? so i could get better pics. There is no close access from the east side of the Seymour River, the waterway on the east side of the Ironworkers Memorial / Scond Narrows Bridge, to where you can see the Garibaldi II, and the west side is part of the Seymour Creek Indian Reserve. There is, however, a public road that goes as far as the bridge from the west side. Try looking-up Railway Street; the road turns into a private drive almost without change, other than narrowing, as it passes under the bridge, so if you're in a car don't worry about driving as far as the film set at the end of it. You'll need to go pretty far to be able to get close enough, though. The private road turns south, as you can see here
...And looking the other wayHowever, as you can see in the second pic, there's a good chance your view of the GII would be blocked by other vessels; the best views can be seen by venturing onto the regularly congested bridge. Still, this private road has a great view of the shipyard, just don't be surprised if you run into someone from the railway, as they are often spotted, in an SUV.

Don't mess with the CN cops! I tried crossing a double track on a once public trail and they stopped me just for that. 'Put a bloody chain link fence up since then.

If you read what I said before, you'd know that this was a public trail leading into a municipal park. However, unknown to me, it had been closed.
