Might not want to leave it that late Chris, 9:45am, the Queen of Vancouver leaves TSA at 10:25am. Will that be enough time???

Haha, woops. Scratch that plan. NV guys, if you want a fast and direct ride out to Tsa, meet me at Park Royal. "The bus" leaves the parking lot beside The Keg Steakhouse at Park Royal at 09:15, with an ETA of 09:50

Well, here's the weather that we're dealing with for tomorrow:
Snowfall warning for: Greater Vancouver
20 TO 30 CM OF SNOW EXPECTED BY SUNDAY EVENING. A STRENGTHENING ARCTIC RIDGE OVER THE NORTHERN INTERIOR IS PUSHING COLD ARCTIC AIR UP AGAINST THE EAST SLOPES OF THE NORTH AND CENTRAL COAST MOUNTAINS. STRONG OUTFLOW WINDS HAVE DEVELOPED THROUGH THE VALLEYS AND INLETS AS THE ARCTIC AIR RUSHES THROUGH THE GAPS TOWARDS THE COAST. AS THE HIGH CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN WINDS WILL INCREASE AND TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO FALL RESULTING IN WINDCHILLS IN THE MINUS 20 TO MINUS 30 RANGE BY THIS AFTERNOON OVER THE NORTH COAST AND MINUS 20 BY THIS EVENING OVER THE CENTRAL COAST. THESE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO PERSIST FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THE ARCTIC AIR IS MAKING ITS WAY THROUGH THE VALLEYS OF THE SOUTH COAST AND WILL ARRIVE IN THE LOWER MAINLAND BY SUNDAY MORNING. AN INTENSIFYING LOW OVER THE PACIFIC WILL APPROACH WASHINGTON STATE SUNDAY MORNING. THE MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW WILL INTERACT WITH THE ARCTIC AIR GIVING SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL FOR MUCH OF THE SOUTH COAST BEGINNING TONIGHT. 20 TO 30 CM OF SNOW IS EXPECTED BY SUNDAY EVENING.
PLEASE REFER TO THE LATEST PUBLIC FORECASTS FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

Great! It's already started here, and I just got home from work because we couldn't work on the roof I was on any longer, because of the snow.....
I'll have to make a decision tomorrow morning as to how this snow plays out. I'd be suprised if we end up getting 30cm of snow, because we had a warning for 10-15 yesterday, and that never happened.

If the weather is good I will meet you all out at Duke Point. I'm going to take Route 2 over and swing by our house. Take advantage of the sale.

I'm likely to not make it tomorrow. If we get a lot of snow, I may be stranded out here at Indian Arm.

Well, seeming snowfalls are unpredictable, some of us are considering not attending tomorrows trip, due to the snow. In the case where some of us get snowed in, would you guys consider postphoning the trip until next Sunday, December 3rd? Or are most of you determined to keep that hardcore Ferryfreak title, and go no matter what? I'll be making a decision with whether or not I'll go, when I wake up to see how much snow we've recieved, and how clear the roads are. Obviously if it's compact snow, with 30cm on the ground everywhere, I definitely will be staying home. If there's just a few cms on the ground, I think I'll be going.

I might go depending on the how much snow there is but I will be doing route 1 just to get on a ferry in the snow as it would be easier to get out to Swartz Bay then up to Nanaimo, so yeah we could postpone the route 30 trip but it might have to be the 2nd which is a Saturday as I dont think I am off that Sunday. But whatever if not I'll have to do route 30 on my own then. I know Scott cant do Saturdays so unless he cant get off work. But we will have to see tommorrow. Damn snow, why cant it snow for Christmas, not now!!

Maybe you can tell them to keep the arctic air up there.

I intend to take a ferry tomorrow; which route depends on the weather. I have a rental car to return to Vancouver Airport and hope to do that tomorrow during the wait between route 30 vessels. 30 cm of snow would not put me out of action at home, but here in Lotus land things will be different.
I may just do route 1 and could co-ordinate that with Karl & perhaps others.

If I can get up the Malahat it would be fine. Otherwise I will take a trip over on route 1 tommorrow. If I were to meet anyone at TSA could always hang out at the TSA quay for a bit. I wouldent mind getting on the Queen of Saanich. But yeah route 30 tommorrow depends on how much snow there is. It's not even snowing here now it was a bit earlier but nothing now, just mixed stuff and not sticking although I heard the Malahat had snow. If I did route 1 it would probably be the 1pm I would take in order to meet the guys at TSA by 3:30pm that were coming off the Vancouver.

Okay so my attendance is questionable. We're pretty well snowed in, and unless you have an SUV, you're pretty much screwed.
It is possible for me to make it tommorow, I can put my Ford Explorer to the ultimate test; however if no one else is going I won't. I would deffinatley consider postponing the trip to next weekend.

Gentlemen:
I'd like to add my name to the list for this voyage. I, too, would prefer to do it Sunday instead of next weekend.
Having said that, I guess it all depends on the weather.
I'll check back in the morning.

Sorry guys, I gotta back out at the last second. I've been watching the traffic reports on the news this morning, travel on the Sea to Sky between here and Vancouver isn't recommended. That's ok, my road isn't ploughed yet anyway. Plus we're expected to get another 10-20cm as the day progresses. So even if I make it out there, I don't know if I'd make it back. I guess I should of jumped on getting some snow tires, but oh well.
I'm hoping for a trip next weekend too.

It's snowing here now just typical. No snow all night then it starts in the morning. If I am not at Duke Point I will go route 1 and meet you at TSA for a bit when you get off the Vancouver. TSA looks cool with the snow so I would like to take a trip anyways. So yeah if your still going Scott I might see you guys at TSA.

Good morning colleagues,
Mr. Mainlander cannot make it today as his parents are too gullible to motion sickness, and they overreacted and told him "no" when they saw a wind warning on the Weather Network.
To those who are going, have a good time.
Please note, that he will not be able to make it next weekend either, due to other plans.
Cheers, -Michael (who is writing in the third person for some reason)

Looks like I will be going route 1. I'll see you Scott and Graham at TSA around 3:30pm when you get off the Vancouver. I'll catch the either the 12 or 1pm and see guys this afternoon. I dont think I want to try to get over the Malahat. Looks like I will be doing route 30 on the 2nd.

Well, I just got back home after today's trip. Other than the weather as well as drive to and from Duke Point, I think that the trip went really well. This photo for the most part basically sums up today's experience... On our way over to Vancouver, we had some great discussions regarding the fleet... For those horn lovers, the whistle was blowing every five minutes the whole way over due to the thick fog caused be the snow. The horn can be heard here.

Coming back on the Saanich from TSA it was really rough and bouncing around. Hard to walk around, like we all drunk, lol! The horn was sounding like every 5 mins too on the way back! I bet the Queen of Tsawwassen would of been a rough trip!
