We still have power here in Victoria but I am sure some places dont at the moment. This is just crazy weather. If our power goes again it will be like the 4th time in the past like 3 days due to this weather.

Wow, you guys are getting another beating from mother nature. It's just a light drizzle of rain right now, with no wind whatsoever. Odd....I thought Squamish meant "Big Wind"...But I guess that's a summertime thing.

yeah mother nature I dont think is in a lot of people good books right now. Ferries cancelled and everything, Harbourlynx is cancelled. Flights delayed. It's crazy! Route 2 seems to be fine!

I think that's because the C class run there and they can withstand high winds and both terminals are sheltered.

What a bad night to be travelling on ferries! The 3 and 5 cancelled on Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen... Duke Point - Tsawwassen shut down too, although I heard they might try to get the 8:15 out. The 5:00 from Departure Bay left an hour and a half late because of the winds. I heard that near Victoria and Saturna Island they were clocking winds well over 110 km/hr so that would explain why the ferries aren't running.
Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay are quite sheltered so that's why route 2 isn't so bad, but they're even running late now so it must be just howling out there. Maybe they're more concerned with heavy seas on route 2??

The 5:00 from Horseshoe Bay must have arrived in Departure Bay before the 5:00 from Departure Bay left at 6:49!

When it was still light out about 2 and a half hours ago, I looked at the webcam, and I could see caps out in Departure Bay. So the wind is getting into the bay. Also looking at the Horseshoe Bay came, it looks a little bit breezy of course, but nothing to worry about.

Alright, a bit of an update here. The Kahloke on the Chemainus run is up and running again. But the N.I.P. is now out of service on the Texada route. Oak Bay is about one sailing behind, and is probably running side by side the Cowichan. It also looks like they've decided not to bother to leave at all tonight from Swartz Bay for route 1. But the BCF site still says there's still going to be 7pm sailing, and it's 8:30 right now. But people still wait anxiously at the toll booths at Tsawwassen, even though no ferries are going anywhere there. Unless they still plan to try and get the Newwest out, which I doubt because it's the Newwest at Tsawwassen with that disappointiong V-Class design causing her to backout and turn around. But in this case, she'd get blown down Puget Sound in this wind. Hardy Har Har, I know....ohhh what a mess....good thing it's a week day!

All this windy and rainy weather has even caused some choppiness on the Fraser River. When I was out on the Albion Ferry a couple days ago, while you couldn't feel the turbulence, you could clearly see the waves were bigger than normal. They were almost to the point of breaking into white caps. As far as swells go, though, there was nothing as usual in the Fraser River.

What a night! Delays at Powell River, Chemainus, Campbell River, Queen Charlotte Islands. Sailings cancelled on all routes out of Tsawwassen. Nothing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay after 1pm. Looks like the Queen of New Westminster and Queen of Alberni are doing one more round trip tonight. About an hour late for the 8:15.

Oh yes, to add to my post. It doesn't look rough in my pictures, as it wasn't. It didn't start getting rough until I was heading back, and didn't take anymore pictures.

Looks like some big rigs arent gonna make the 10:45 delayed sailing tonight. A big line of trucks outside Tsawwassen right now. I guess they are gonna be sleeping in their trucks overnight and catch the first sailings tommorrow.

The first three sailings for tomorrow on Route 1 are sold out for big rigs right now as of 1am. With the SOBC still out, will they fire up the Esquimalt?

Well here we go again. The route 30 ferries never made the first two round trips this morning same with the Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen route. The Queen of Cowichan did leave at 6:30am for Horseshoe Bay and the Oaky left for DB at 6:30am but it looks like the Oaky is docked in Nanaimo and aint going back which is odd cause the Cowichan is still running. Right now this is 1 sailiing wait from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen. Anothe bad day for the ferries today.

Another repeat of last week! This time the winds are also on the mountains. I'm still waiting to see if Afternoon classes are running today.

That's sad. Were getting power outages all over North Delta, our house is one of the lucky few.
News 1130 says: All the sailings on BC Ferries to the Island are canceled for the rest of the day.
I say: Lies, lies, all lies! I detect an over-exaggeration. Of course, this very well be true, but BCF doesn't post it, as it may lose customers, on conditions that may not actually happen.

Service is starting to go again on some routes now. The SOBC is loading for the 11, and the Tenaka and Tachek are back in service as well. Haven't heard anything yet about the other routes.

Both ferries out of Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay should be running. As for Tsawwassen, that may not be very easy but if the Cowichan is sailing, the Oak Bay can too.

Well what I find weird is that the Horseshoe Bay Webcam shows either the Coquitlam or Cowichan in the berth but the Current Conditions page says they both left just over half hour ago. What's with that?
