They've cancelled the first two sailings from Tsawwassen and Duke Point due to the high winds. The Nanny is also running 40 mins behind. The Saanich also had a bit of a problem leaving Tsawwassen as well for the 9:00 sailing, but there was only a 10 minute delay, but it's not much of a concern.
Sailing Cancellations Posted January 28, 2006
Due to high wind conditions the 5:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. sailings from Duke Point and Tsawwassen Terminal are cancelled this morning.
Update: Sailing Delays Posted January 28, 2006
Due to high wind conditions, the 6:25 a.m. sailing of the Queen of Nanaimo from Long Harbour to Tsawwassen Terminal was delayed this morning.
The vessel has now departed Long Harbour, approximately 40 minutes behind schedule.
Southern Gulf Island customers can expect minor delays on this route this morning.

It was starting to act up last night. I was on the Oak Bay 7:00pm from Horseshoe Bay last night and it got bumpy on the Nanaimo-side half of the trip.

Here's my Nanaimo weather report:
The wind was howling outside my condo last night......and I saw rain "moving sideways".
The trees are still shaking outside, right now.

Its sunny and cloudy here today but last night it was pretty ugly. My Dad was working over on Texada last night and he was riding on the 10:10 sailing coming back to Powell River and he said it was really ugly. There was only 2 cars on the ferry and the lights were flickering and waves were coming over the side of the car deck.

Let's see...it was pouring all throughout the night in Langley, until the wind came this morning. It cleared up this afternoon but it looks like it starting to get cloudy again.
Damn those clouds...where is the sun these days.
Actually, I think we are expecting to get some sun in the following week to this one coming...as we usually do in February.

Yeah, it was a pretty nice day today, after I left the Squamish Rainforest and went out to Burnaby. Too much rain is depressing. But for the record, here is a picture of the sun setting over Burnaby.

Yeah it was pretty ugly here last night too in Victoria. The wind was just howling last night. Our power was out from like just after midnight last night to about 4pm today. It was just crazy.

This morning we got a break of sun on Grouse, then by mid-morning, the snow started falling, and it came down hard. Right now Grouse has more snow than Whistler, and we have to dig down to get into the Ski Wee Hut. We also had tree debris on some runs today.

Seymour was closed today due to severe weather, that should attract customers to Grouse, eh? Happy digging!

Over an inch of snow fell in Port Alberni this afternoon. But it had turned to rain by 8pm. Nothing here in Parksville. The big trees on the Alberni Highway look really neat covered in snow. The jack-knifed semi and the mile long line up behind it didn't look really neat heading up the "hump" towards Alberni.
The storm on Saturday morning put the Queen of Vancouver out of service. Smashed her into the dock at Tsawwassen. It was mentioned in the Victoria Times-Colonist today.

It started to snow here this evening at about 6pm, and had just turned to rain. We only got about 1cm, but listening to the radio, the Sea to Sky was a mess between here and Whistler with the usual cars going off the road into the ditch. But that was with the usual Sunday rush hour traffic from Whistler with people going home after their two night stay up there. Well the good thing about it melting now is that I don't have to worry when I drive to school tomorrow.

I thought the Vancouver was at Deas? Plus they aren't even running the Vancouver right now, only the Esquimalt. Is she tied up at TWA?

I read something in the Times Colonist and I forgot the 28th was Saturday when the Queen of Vancouver was suppose to replace the SOBC for the afternoon.

One of the few days there are the Queen of Saanich and the Queen of Vancouver operating on route 1 with the SOBC out of service we have a huge wind storm. The Saanich and Vancouver are docked and dosent look like they are moving till the winds die down. A few people seem to be leaving the terminals. It's crazy windy again. I hate this stupid weather here.

Traffic is starting to leave the terminals now. I saw the webcam a few mins ago and traffic was lined up to get refunds. Duke Point, Tsawwassen Swartz Bay people are starting to leave. I wanna know why the Queen of New West left and the Alberni sailings are cancelled. I thought a C class could handle the winds better then a V or Super V class.

Well, our cable just got knocked out a few minutes ago.. Every member on this forum who is located in Delta, who has cable high-speed will not be on for the next few hours.
I am not surpised. I have been expecting cancelled sailings for hours.
