Here's something to think about (as well as a few questions) that gained some validity in my mind after I bounced the idea off my parents:
-In the most recent reports about WMG using the FastCats in competition with BCF, I've been hearing of a second route proposed for the proposed service. -WMG's Seaspan Coastal Intermodal has the terminal next to BCF's Swartz Bay terminal, but that would need major alterations to be able to accept the cats. -Just after WMG's announcement, we're now hearing an announcement of a first for BCF, a floating dock, with no improvements vs. a normal berth significant enough to tell us about.
My questions are:
-Wasn't the reasoning for having the FastCats be so low in the water to fit the BCF terminal config.? -If, as was mentioned as a posibility by cascade, the bow door and the conterweight ballast were lightened, raising the ships out of the water and essentially making them incompatible with BCF terminal berths, would a floating berth rectify this problem?

It's a first for BCF because they've only built single ramp floating docks, never any double ramp floating docks. Should be interesting!
