The days of lifting the V class are long gone. They passed their prime years ago, and investing that kind of money into them would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Also, the ones that were lifted 20+ years ago developed all sorts of gearing problems, apparently, years later, due to the mechanicals being altered so much from being both stretched and lifted.

it was a good theory, but not very good on the execution, i think that it was sound that they increase capacity for the vessels, but i think they needed to be repowered and retooled when they did it.

You're right. The V class were fitted with MAK engines when they were lifted, and the New West was fitted with engines that are rediculously powerful.

Yes I think we should leave them alone, the Burnaby class would become the new V class if they were, no no no no no! The B class are fine, and so is all the rest of the fleet, except the Quinsam and Queen of Prince Rupert of course, they are rusty. I also hope the Capilano comes down to replace the Mayne Queen, and still have the Bowen for the Gabriola run, and put Quinsam to Salspring Island from Swartz bay (if it can dock in the docks at Swartz bay and Fulford Harbour) as a replacement/extra vessel for that route.(4)

As a matter of fact I do, right now anyway, I found a poll that I had not voted in, and decided to vote.

I think I'll keep my mouth shut on this issue. I've already upset enough of the union members on this forum in the past year.

Someone is not thinking, you cant have the Bowen on the Bowen Island run cause she is smaller than the Capilano. Why do you think they want to replace the Capilano??? They need a bigger ferry!

Skeena would be fine on the run but not the Bowen Queen.

What run? I did not say get rid of the Skeena and replace it with the Quinsam, I meant have her as a relief extra vessel for when the Skeena breaks down next, as she is similar in shape to her, the Bowen can run on the Gabriola route during this time.

You want the Quinsam to run relief incase the Bowen breaks down. It would be a very expensive and ineffiient way to use a ship, and the Bowen is over kill for Gabriola.

you mean bowen queen is too big for route 19? I would like to see the Quinsam in active pass while riding the Spirit of Vancouver island.
