Can anyone confirm where the Tachek is right now??? I looked at the CC page and on the Swartz Bay to Gulf Island they had the Tachek listed sailing at 10:05am and the Cumberland at 10am! It has been years since the Tachek has been on the Gulf Islands run! I wonder what is up with that! Where is the Mayne Queen???

ah ha, found out why the Tachek on on the Gulf Islands route!
Service Notice
Supplementary service with the MV Tachek
Issued September 03, 2005
The M/V Tachek has been redeployed from the Northern Gulf Islands to Swartz Bay to provide supplementary service to the Southern Gulf Islands over the long weekend. Following the weekend, the Tachek will remain at SWB on standby for one more week until the Queen of Cumberland’s RAD unit is replaced.

So that solves that question! What about the route the Tachek is normally on? Isn't it Powell River to Texada or something? Also there is the Mayne Queen on that route and there doesn't seem to be too much traffic on that route anyway. But the Capilano is on the Bowen route all by itself and even had to suspend service a few days ago and traffic was backed up for a few hours. So why do they have 3 vessels on that route and 1 on the Bowen route. Makes no sense unless dockspace is a problem at Horseshoe Bay, but the Esquimalt will be going over to Duke Point pretty soon so that's one less vessel going in and out, so what difference would it make if they had the Tachek on that route?

Tachek is a supplementary in the Northern Gulf...NIP does the Powell River-Texada crossing.

Tachek does Denman-Hornby island run in the winter months, while the Kahloke is at Chemainus (Kahloke is the Denman-Hornby summer vessel).

I have seen the Tachek in Swartz bay before and i also seen the Tenaka at Swartz bay around 2000 before thay went up north

I think build a another cappie class ferry And put it on SWB-GULF ISLAND ROUTE and another on the TSA-GULF ISLAND ROUTE and another as a Extra ferry I think these ferries could replace the Bowen class maybe.

Move the Cap to Swartz Bay so you can have the two sisters on the same run! Well the Cumbie can carry 125 cars with the ramps and the Tachek only carries 50? But that is better than nothing I guess and there would be waits if the Cumbie broke down again! But then again you could switch the Mayne Queen and have her do the Cumbie sailings and have the Tachek do the Mayne Queen runs!

Tachek is at Swartz Bay right now as I saw her earlier today as I drove by! She is sitting in berth 5 which is the end berth closest to the truck ferry dock and she is docked bow to! No good areas around Swartz Bay to get photos! Maybe tommorrow I can try and get some as I am planning on catching the 10am ferry tommorrow!

saw the tachek at sturdies bay on friday night. was on the bowen queen and had to wait for her to depart from the dock so we could pull in

Tachek is not at Swartz Bay anymore. I wonder where she went now??? Instead the Howe Sound Queen is at Swartz Bay this week till Friday having some work done and the Bowen Queen is replacing her on the Crofton to Vesuvius run till Friday!

The Tachek is up at Horseshoe Bay now and doing the last two roundtrips or more tonight, while they do work on the Cappie. Same reason as why they brought it down for the Cumbie.
