I can see why they put the Vancouver there today, she was already at Twa. But if the New West is going to be out for a few days, then yes they need to bring the Esquimalt over. BTW, your comment on car capacity is outdated. I believe it has been stated on this board that they took the platform decks off of the Esquimalt, so her capacity is down from where it was. If the New West is still out for Labor Day weekend I will be upset. I have reservations for the 10:15 out of Twa on Friday Sept. 2nd to Duke Point.

But they can't be used, right? The New West left Twa half a hour late this morning due to "mechanical difficulties", guess they didn't get her fixed in time?

They tried to do some temporary repairs on her last night and weren't sucessful when it tried to leave the dock this morning. So it sounds like they had to return to the dock. Now the Alberni is only running the route until further notice. But so far on this Sunday morning both Departure Bay and Duke Point are at Possible sailing waits at 9:19am and there isn't anymore sailings for those routes for another hour so there's going to be a sailing wait, except on route 2 if they get the Coquitlam going. So I wonder what the crew on the Newwest have to do today? Stay on the ferry and clean it up or go home? Can anyone even tell where the Newwest is parked right now?

I was on the saanich yesterday coming back to tsawwassen on the 8pm and we had to slow down 15 minutes out and wait because the nanaimo was coming out of berth 4 and the vancouver just arrived in berth . So we slowed down and i went to the starboard side and saw the bowen queen coming in at the same speed right next to us heading for berth 1 because the new west was in berth 2. Another thing that we had to wait for was the SOVI was leaving before the nanaimo. Finally we docked at berth 5. So in a matter of ~15 minutes 6 ferries entered and exited or stayed in tswassen terminal.

Yeah no kidding! I bet the Alberni would be crazy if it was overloaded! I thought it was crowded the times when I have been on her! I was on teh SOVI once during a windstorm when she was the only ship running at that was rediculasly overloaded too!

Was it 2002 when the New West broke down and the 11AM SOVI from Swartz had to wait 15 minutes to dock at birth 5 (1:15) and made my day hell?

I was on the Queen of Vancouver, trying to get into the berth at Tsawwassen on Saturday; while the crew on the Queen of New Westminster tried to maneuver themselves into berth 5 to unload the cars without having to back them off. The deckhand on the Queen of Vancouver was saying that the Queen of New West had no main engines (jokingly said something about a cotter pin) and was maneuvering with the currents, winds, waves, and the bow thrusters.
It was quite a sight to see them trying to back into Berth 5 with no props, and we went into Berth 3.

Any photos of that sight? Backing off half the cars, an interesting site (well one lane, then loop the cars from one lane over into he empty lane in theory at least). back off middle lane, then a few cars from next row, then row threee can do a U-Turn into the middle lane and come off.

Any photos of that sight? Unfortunately no, didn't have a camera with me. But it was amazing to watch them trying to get out of Berth 3 and get their back end into berth 5 without using the props.

I don't think so, The Esquimalt is almost identical to the Vancouver on the outside. but as new things have been added over time they are different. also i know for a fact that the vancouver stayed on route 1 last night as i was on her on the 6pm from swartz bay
