Since Biff lied about the Capilano lift Saltery Bay-Earls Cove is going to have a wimpy car capacity when the Capilano arrives. (Uh Oh) She'll have ramps but that ain't enough. (it won't) I'm sure of it so what should happen to the Capilano? Joke beyond this point: (vote for bridges) OK now your getting carried away bracets guy (I am not ) are to (not ) are (Not Infinity ) You are Infinity X 10 (Crap you foiled me again ) Ha-Ha ;D (in a Nelson tone off of the Simpsons). OK that was just a little comedy I put in for fun cause the brackets I put in sounded like they were from another person in the first paragraph. So what should be done to the Cap for route 7?

They need ramps on the Car deck, but they should also expend the passenger amentities. Stretch the passenger deck, or lift the top part and insert a Galley on the top passenger deck.

That'd probably work well on that route

Maybe they should lift her a little on the car deck and make it that the Ramps Stay down 24-7 and strech her passenger area so she can have a Cafeteria

That should be the retiring grounds for the V-classes. Send them out to pasture, so to speak.

I was talking to Scott on MSN yesterday and he said the lift was never mentioned in BC Ferries (both of his parents work for them) so we definitely know that was a fake.

I agree with Strong Skier! They need like an Issaqua 130 class ferry on that run!

Just the facts: The Cumbie has a 127 car capacity with the ramps, which would mean the Cap with ramps would have the same capacity. The Cap's service speed is 14 knots, and it rated for 462 passengers. Now compare this with the Chilliwack: 115 cars, 14 knot service speed, 400 passengers. How is the Cap not an upgrade? The Twa has an advantage of a 17 knot speed, 128 car capacity (only one more), and more passenger room, but she is being retired. Maybe run another boat there during the summer?

That would be pointless seeing as how close the Capilano's capacity would come to the Tsawwassen's.

However the route often overloads so they need something with slightly bigger car capacity but since Saltery Bay and Earls Cove are too far away from everyone so keep the passenger Capacity low the Capilano was perfect for that 15 years ago but now the Platform Ramps/Gallery Decks aren't enough unless they put both ramps down but that would ruin the truck capacity on the ship and they need trucks to keep up with the demand on the Saltery Bay-Earls Cove route since they handle many trucks a day since we're a isolated comunity plus three buses for Malaspina Coach Lines that service the Sunshine Coast Powell River and Vancouver so there's at least one or 2 trucks a bus and 2 cars a sailing with so many cars trucks and a bus they need both ramps down all the time and extend the Passenger area to handle a cafeteria and were okay for 10-20 years for that route they should do the same with the Cumbie so she matches her sister.

okay....thats the stupid thing...you dont build a ship to handle a peak load....because then the rest of the times its a waste of space....would you build a 1000 car ferry for the 2 times a year that she runs full.....and yet the rest of the time is running 1/8th capacity?

The Cumbie stays the same and she will! There is no need to do that to her!

I was saying have route 7 as the retirement grounds for v-classes because they're already built and paid for and a low impact route would have them last for a while.

Maybe for the Burnaby and Nanny, but not the double decked V-Classes.

yeah that is true. But i think it would take some major bucks to get them to the point that theyd last a long time. right now the 2 v class work on Tsw - SwB and they are heavily impacted, and yet it wasn't one of them that lost a cotter pin and almost smashed into the dock...it was one of the newer C class vessels....i think the V class will work for many more years.

They're good ships, and they don't seem to break down as often as the C's.

maybe it has to do with the beginning of the bad ships?

Whoa! Don't raise the bridge, lower the water. Snug Cove's marshalling area already extends 1/2 mile up Government Road, to 200% of Capilano's car capacity. Cap, in my opinion, is the largest ferry needed for Bowen-HB service. BCF, Bowen commuters and TransLink must get together to work on an effective plan to move Bowen residents to city jobs. A larger ferry will require more marshalling space. A paved desert like Langdale sure can't be a happy choice for Snug Cove.

The only problem with them would be the passenger Capacity it needs to change 1000 something for passengers is too much

i don think a vessel that doesn't have a RAD would work on the HSB - BWI run, just for how "Snug" snug cove really is.
