The "V" Class vessels won't be refurbished, as they are scheduled to be retired within the next four years. The "S" Class are very new, they may only need some interior replacements within the next 15 years. Intermediate should get it, but they are new and operate fairly short runs, so their McDonald's seats may do. Powell River Class are also going to be retired soon. Burnaby Class are similar to the "V" Class, so they are going to be retired as well. Northen vessels are supposed to be contracted out, so there isn't much point in refurbishing them. And Century Class. There is only one of those, and it's the newest vessel in the fleet. I don't think it will need anything major. a few of the minor vessels in the fleet are remaining, so they are to be refurbished.

I agree with what you say except what you said about the Burnaby Class. The Queen Of Burnaby has about another 15 years untill it retires because of its refit as the Royal Victorian. The Queen Of Nanaimo however has about as much time as the Queen of Tsawwassen (but the Nanaimo is under review for retirement)

Actually the ferries that are not going to be retired in the next few years or are new should be refurbished.

As far as I'm concerned, the Queen of Nanaimo is undergoing a major step by step refit. So far it has mostly been mechanical refits, but this winter the Nanaimo is supposed to get, some upgrades to its customer service area. What it really needs is a refit to its interior and get rid of the asbestos ceilings

I dont think the intermediate class need a mid life refit yet as they are still fairly new being built in the early 90's. Only thing about the Cumberland and Capilano they could change and improve would be the uncomfortable seating they have as someone mentioned the cheap McDonalds seating. Replace them all with seats like the old couch style Coquitlam seating would even be better or seating like the Spirit ships have in their upper lounges. Everything else about those ships are great.

Intermidiate Class should Have Better seating its a pain in the neck having to sit in seats that you sit in a Mc. Donalds or Dairy Queen

The v class need a refit cause they are on some of the busiest routes, more ware and tear.

just because they have the busiest routes doesn;t mean they are going to need it. The "K" class is going to need some refits, before the void spaces rott it out

yeah, they wqere all designed by the same archetect, and built around 1970, the Klataw, and Kulleet are in good condition. but the kiltsa, and kahloke, and the quinsam and quinitsa, have very bad void spaces, the spaces have filled with condensation, and are starting to rust.

I think the Minor Vessels should get a refit first. Especially the Quinsam, could be usefull to get away that rust, even though that adds some realistic looks to it.

Mid Life can be defined as the middle of the ship's expected life span, so.... - as Doug said the Vs are gone... - the Spirits are already recieving major upgrades, but not at the standard we'd think of "mid-life" - The Naniamo is getting $19 million which is a joke, she's an old piece of crap despite our emotional attachments. Parts are becoming more than scarce, and with the Vs leaving over the next 3 years it's going to be even more difficult to facilitate the Burnaby and Naniamo.

I think they're also doing the New West.

There is some money set aside for lessening vibrations, do you know if there are any other 'big plans' for the New West?

Harry: Quinsam has already recieved a form of mid-life refit (several years ago). You should be jumping for joy because she will probably be in the fleet for at least another 20 years.

And another thing about the rust: it doesn't require a mid-life refit to remove/paint that. It would just get done in her annual refit.

Good, that's what I can say. Make sure the Quinsam is repainted in the old colours of Dogwood livery, she is the only ship with them now.

The Kwuna might have the old livry because she can't be put out of service for repainting unless they did it during the night or something like that

Yeah, the Quinsam basically runs full time. I have never seen a service notice regarding the Quinsam being removed for an annual refit.
