I select Nanaimo Harbour, it has good views of Protection Island, Gabriola Island and the ferries from Duke point and Gabriola. The walkway behind the tall condo building is a great place to spot ferries. It also has a good view of the Harbourlynx(when it's coming in).
But what about Baron? Baron is a large Freighter ship that's been sitting in Nanaimo's Wellcox Yards since I first moved there in September. One day I saw another of Baron's design next to it, it was called Knight.

I gotta say Horseshoe Bay or Westview Terminal (Powell River's ferry terminal for Texada and Comox)

I like all of the Major Terminals except for Duke Point because there isn't much ferry traffic around there. But Horseshoe Bay is the closest to me, and I sat on that government warf for 2 hours last Friday watching the ferries go in and out.

I sat on that wharf doing the same thing about a week and a half ago when I rode my bike out to HSB with my step-brother,

I gotta say Horseshoe Bay! Even though it's the farthest from me being in Victoria! You are right, you could sit at Horseshoe Bay for hours watching the ferries come in! Tsawwassen is ok but nothing there, except now the Tsawwassen Quay!

I'd have to say Departure Bay is my favourite terminal to watch ferries at. Unfortunately, I live in Royston, 100 km northwest, and I cannot see any ferries from here. And since I don't have autonomous transportation, I don't have the option to watch a ferry any time I want.

Unless you cycle down to Buckley Bay and see Quinitsa there. But Departure Bay, I think you need to book a taxi or something to get there. Unless you can rent a car for a day or two.

Village Bay, on Mayne Island (aka "bay of pigs").
You get to see gulf islands scenery. You can watch the Spirits & V-class go by, see the Q-Cumber & Mayne Queen, and also the Nanny.
You can even see 3 ferries at once.
Plus, you can soak in some hippie culture.

No way! The best spot for ferry watching is Bellhouse Park on Galiano! I love it there, I could sit there all day and watch the ferries go in and out of active pass! I wanna do a day trip to Galiano sometime this summer again!

I also put Nanaimo Harbour because my favourite vessel is there! But I do like Swartz bay, and a few weeks ago I was willing to go up there by myself on a bike ride.

I like Horseshoe bay because it is in the shape of a horseshoe and there are interesting views of the Mountains and Ferries there.

Tswwassen because you can walk all the way up to the bording gates for foot passengers and sit and watch, but yes bellhouse park is that much better.

I watched Swartz Bay grow as a kid and also Horseshoe Bay. They have changed over the years from the 60's - but are very much out of there depth now - in our modern fast moving world. Real shame as they have character.

In powell river, that means you only see two ferries the nip and the burnaby. I like terminals were you see all different ferries like tsawwassen or Swartz.

I know what you mean they closed it because a oil tanker had a minor crash into that dock I think they've almost finished but I hope they open it to the public again soon

I'd have to say Tsawwassen terminal because of the great vantage points from the foot passenger waiting areas and balconies. Fortunately, for now (Hahn's talk of baggage security measures in the fall makes me think that baggage handling will not be the only change to happen), you can fairly easily access these areas without a ticket. Also Tsawwassen because of the variety of ships; in fact I'd guess that Tsawwassen (atleast during the summer) has the largest variety of ships passing through, including: V-Class, Burnaby-Class (and the New West), C-Class, the Bowen Queen, and, of course, S-Class.
