I like them both but I will say the Queen of Tsawwassen as she is still in service and looks alot nicer now than the Queen of Sidney!

Tsawwassen. Never been on the Sidney and she looks like she's rusted her guts out.

Tsawassen. She hasn't had mechanical problems for a long time, and she runs on such a scenic route.

You are forgetting that the MV Coho was the blueprint for the first three ferries in the fleet and she is still working.
WAC Bennett just copied her - would that happen in today's market ? I doubt it.
Japan came to power in the 70's from coping stuff and making them better. I wonder therefore if BC Ferries got it's act together - better - back then - where would we be in the Ferry business?

I like the Coho! I see the Coho more than I do the Tsawwassen or Sidney! She sails past our house every day on her way to or from Port Angeles! We have an ocean view, not ocean front but ocean view of part of the Jaun De Fuca Strait! I see her quite a bit in the inner harbour!

I love that route, and I remember it well, even though I've gone on it once. It's still my favourite route in the system

unless I'm mistaken, I believe that the plans for the Coho weren't just copied, but used with permission, if not modified by the original designer for BC Ferries.

One of the best routes on the coast, I agree. Spectacular. was it on here that a road was being proposed to connect Squamish and /powell River? I suppose that will eventually happen.

They probably had permission but they had the man who died in the last few months to draw it the Sidney and Tsawwassen which were modeled after the Coho just with minor changes like that the Sidney and Tsawwassen are Ro-Ro vessels which of course was one of BCF's trademarks at the time

HL Teen, Unless that port of registry is Vancouver, Washington, then I think you might have the wrong ship. I'm nearly positive that the Coho is still under U.S. registry, and I am positive that the Coho was built for Black Ball in the '50s.
On a side note: I have a brochure/map advertising Black Ball from the late '50s, and for whatever reason (probably because they're base of operations were in two different countries), The Coho Victoria-Port Angeles route and all other Black Ball routes in Canada were under different company names; the former (Coho Vic-PA) company was called "Black Ball Ferries Inc." (I think. I don't have the brochure with me, as I'm at the library), and I can't remember the official name for Black Ball in Canada.

Yeah but I think she was built in Seattle as it says on the side of the ship at the stern by the name, Seattle Washington!
