The MV Coho was built and running before WAC Bennett copied the plans and put in place his idea / concept for BC Ferries. Black Ball owned the vessel - he made sure it worked before he copied the idea.
Go and read the Mayor of Saanich "Masters" MSc - History - paper on the setup of BC Ferries. Frank Lampart has access to Bennett's papers. This has been talked about on this forum before - the BC Ferries - and how it was started.
