This is the thread of all cancelled sailings for any route! Messages about cancelled sailing, put them in here so we dont have to go search through threads all the time.
Well the 6am from Tsawwassen and the 8am from Swartz Bay were cancelled this morning the Queen of Vancouver although the current conditions said the Queen of Vancouver left at 6:30am. This was due to loading problems with a semi truck on the main car deck! Now I dont know what kind of problem that would be, anyone know??

So why was it cancelled then if it was a stalled vehicle? Even though the current conditions said it left at 6:30am.

Bowen Queen Sailings Cancelled on July 11 Posted July 06, 2005 Route 9A
On Monday, July 11 the Bowen Queen will be redeployed to the Crofton – Vesuvius (Salt Spring Island) route to replace the Howe Sound Queen.
As a result the following sailings have been cancelled:
· 2:30 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. sailings from Tsawwassen, and
· 4:25 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. sailings from Long Harbour.
All customers reserved on these sailings will be contacted to make arrangements for an alternate routing to their destinations.
The Bowen Queen will return to Tsawwassen to resume the Southern Gulf Islands schedule with the 2:30 p.m. departure on Thursday, July 14.
BC Ferries regrets any inconvenience to our customers.
Looks like the Bowen is being redeployed to replace the Howe Sound Queen for three days!

I guess she is going to have some work done on her! The only possible reason to take her off the route!

She has been running at a reduced speed for a couple of weeks. They couldn't figure out the problem, but I guess they have now.

Good, then maybe I can go see her at Swartz Bay tomorrow and video her, then go to Brentwood Bay and get the Mill bay pics some asked for after her refit. Some for my model too.

Currently I am at my grandparents house in Point Robberts (south of Tsawwassen), facing south, and watching the Queen of Saanich go by, which is not supposed to happen.
I checked the BC Ferries website, and apparently the Saanich lost use of an engine. Because of having only one engine in service, I guess they didn't want to chance it through Active Pass. The Saanich seems to be headed to Boundary Pass. Three sailings have been cancelled (The 6 out of Tsawwassen, the 8 out of Swartz Bay, and the 10 out of Tsawwassen), and the service notice says that repairs will be completed overnight.

I am back, just got home 11:40pm. I did get on the 9pm as planned after arriving at Tsawwassen about 8:05pm. It was really busy though! I just got squeezed in at the back was like one of the last few cars on! They were just squeezing cars on, right until you couldent fit another one on! I was in the Tsawwassen Quay and saw that the 10pm was cancelled ont he video screen but had no idea why! The SOVI made an 11pm sailing back to Tsawwassen! Like 5 lanes waiting at Swartz Bay! damn you Saanich! See what she has caused now! Sailing waits!

The SOVI is coming back to Swartz at 1am. The BC Ferries current conditions shows it as 3% full, yet there are some cars lined up outside the terminal. They must have made the extra trip due to the canceled 10pm sailing. I wonder if the crew gets 3/4 hours of overtime for making the extra round trip at 11pm and 1am?

LUFKIN is the manufacturer of the gearbox. I elieve it is now an american company. They are a reduction and reversing gear. If you look at the engine room pics of the HSQ on this site you will see them. They are the grey boxes coupled to the engine. The engines you can see (Detroit Diesel 12V-149's) have now been replaced with MTU 12V 2000's.

Yeah it seems there was alot of cars at Tsawwassen! I guess there were people who dident make the 9pm cause I was one of the last on the upper deck, but I dont know if more were going below! They had the overheights in the Duke Point holding area as those two end lanes for Swartz Bay were filled with cars who dident make the 8pm from Tsawwassen. There was about 2 lanes beside me who got there later than us who probably wouldent of made the 9pm. We dident leave Tsawwassen till about 9:20pm and there was about 4 or 5 lanes at 11pm waiting to get on a Swartz Bay!

Queen of Saanich Sailings Cancelled Today
Issued July 11, 2005
The Queen of Saanich is continuing to experience mechanical problems with one of its engines. The vessel has a broken exhaust valve. A piston and an engine liner require replacement.
The following sailings are cancelled today, Monday, July 11:
Exit Swartz Bay: 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm
Exit Tsawwassen: 8am, 12 noon, 4pm, 8pm
Repairs will be made today. The vessel is expected to be back in service tomorrow morning.
More cancelled sailings today! This is going to a nighmare today with all the Saanich sailings cancelled!
So what do you think?? Which route is more important? The busiest route 1 or Langdale to Horseshoe Bay! All I can say, it get the Esquimalt off Langdale and down to Swartz Bay!

Yeah what I meant was take the Esquimalt off the Langdale run. Run the Coquitlam on the triangle run and move Esquimalt to Swartz Bay!
