Well on Global TV at the top of the news, a Global National reporter was on the Queen of Comberland when everything went silent. The Captain comes on the PA and says they have lost power and they immediately dropped both anchors. after 15-20 minutes power was restored and they went into Sturdies Bay and picked up some vehicles. They came out of Sturdies Bay did a few circles and the Captain came on the PA saying they had power to 3 engines and continued on to Swartz Bay. They came in an hour late. Next they said the Queen of Saanich was pulled from service and the 6PM, 8PM and 10PM sailings were cancelled due to her only having one engine. Repairs are being done over-night and she should return to service in the morning.

It looks like the Oaky's Power problem is going around the fleet now! She has given it to other ships now. I dont know how it would of reached the Cumbie though! lol!

Haha, it's a virus! At least there wasn't any damage this time though. Let's hope they can get her back asap.

I heard of 2 sailing waits at Swartz bay, it was 3:55pm approximatly, and the 5:00 was full before 4:00pm! 6:00pm was 78% full before 4:00! Now I hear that the Even Hour sailings are cancelled from 6:00 - 10:00, I wonder what is going on, they can't be sending ships into service/repair enough. They need more minors and more Majors to run the waters properley. I was wondering why, when HSB terminal closed because of Oak Bay; they didn't bring the Coquitlam and Cowichan down to Tsawwassen to run SB, then Surrey be able to run with New west and Alberni.

I looked at the bottom of the list too, and found that Hurricane Dennis, is a real menice, and it is going to the biggest Hurricane to ever hit the U.S and it is going to reach Windsor. Ontario, in 5 days.

Why isn't the cumbie doing runs where she leaves swartz and goes to pender and mayne? When i was waiting at swartz for 2 hours on saturday she was going 1/8 loaded to pender and coming back virtually empty, then getting 1/8 loaded again and going to mayne.

Was Mr Engineer working yesterday when Cumbie lost power??? We passed Cumbie about 10:15pm or so by Pender on the SOVI on our way to Swartz Bay! We arrived at Swartz Bay about 10:45pm on the SOVI and all the lights on the Saanich were off, then I noticed from the car deck of the SOVI the Saanich's light came on again and there was people on her in the bridge! The Mayne Queen was arriving to into berth 3.
The Nanny was late too as we passed Sturdies Bay around 10pm I would say!

Good ol Mayne Queen! Seems like she has been doing the Galiano run more during the summer months than the Cumbie does! Does the Mayne Queen have more sailing to Galiano than Cumbie during the summer??

Those Mayne Queen departure times from Swartz Bay at 3:30pm have to be wrong with the arrival at Lyall Harbour at 4:15pm as it takes about 1hr and 05 mins to reach Lyall Harbour. To reach Lyall Harbour at 4:15pm they would have to leave SB at 3:10pm but that is screwed up as that is the departure from Lyall Harbour! Someone should look into that cause that will mess people up!

Engineer,
What's the status of the Cumberland? I noticed on the 'actual departures' page, on the BC Ferries website, that the "scheduled Departures" were the normal tuesday departures. Are you still avoiding Active and Navy Channel, or has the leg been repaired (or replaced)?
I noticed that the 'Actual Departures' page shows "mechanical difficulties with vessel" notes for the 09:05 and 14:20, that the 05:15 was delayed 50 minutes, and that as of 16:30 the scheduled 16:15 departure hasn't left.
Any details are appreciated, as I am going to be travelling route 5 tomorow.

well I want to get some shots of the HSQ at Swartz Bay. What I'll do is take route 1 to Swartz Bay with a throughfare ticket, transfer to the Mayne Queen to Village Bay, and take the Queen of Nanaimo back to Tsawwassen. This way I can get shots of the HSQ at Swartz Bay, and I save almost $5 by taking route 9 back to Tsawwassen instead of route 1.
