Looks like Coquitlam is ready to go in berth 2 at Departure Bay to be the number 2 out of there.

re Kyle's comment: "connected to the union and mangement".
You should also add "connected to a casual employee".

What is up with the new schedules for route 2??? They are going back to what the schedules were like back in 97 and the late 90's with these goofy schedules instead of sailings now like on the hour or half hours! Must be something to do with Horseshoe Bay if all routes are being changed out of there!

All employees on Route 2 already recieve an automatic 30 minutes of overtime as it is. Even when traffic is only perhaps 50% of capacity there is still issues loading the ships and getting them out on time. What will be interesting is seeing how the loss of the 30 minute mid-day break effects the time keeping, as thats currently what keeps the ships on some semblence of on-timeness for the afternoon.

Why dont BC Ferries get with it. What is happening with the Surrey? Is she going to be on Langdale this summer or not? They have her listed on Langdale and route 2 as extra on July 1st which is Friday!
oh and thanks alot Langdale Crew!!!! We would of had the Surrey on route 2 if it wasent for them! Sorry I am pissed off at the moment! Not at BC Ferries but something personal!

No it really doesn't look like she'll be on route till this time next year . Looks like Coquitlam is doing another round trip tonight, I'm suprised they got her going today with extra sailings.

Well, It looks like the Coquitlam is in Horseshoe Bay now and they didn't bother bringing her back to Nanaimo, which is a bit strange because what did the crew do? Go over from Vancouver and then take the Coquitlam on 1 1/2 trips? But I really can't tell in the West Vancouver webcam, I can makout the Oak Bay sitting there but it looks like I'm seeing more windows, unless it's the Cappie. But if the Coq went back to Nanaimo then she should of been there by now. But then again the Coq is going to take over for Oaky tomorrow from the 3pm sailing for the rest of the day so far, but isn't having a ferry parked in one of the berths at Horseshoe Bay going to create havoc for the ferries to dock if one of them is late?

In past they've kept the crew over night... but that information is uber old and I'm not sure it's still current policy.

What's funny is RBI is listing all the sailings on route 2 as they are 1hr 40min crossing time except for the 9:55am&3pm departures! Starting with the new schedules!
How long has the current schedule for route 2 been in place??

Since the Mid Island express stopped going to Departure Bay I'm assuming. I have a schedule somewhere from 1994 which is really interesting to read, so I think I'll scan it and post later.

Route 2 is busy tonight if you're going out of Horseshoe Bay, They've added a 7:15PM sailing being made by the Queen of Coquitlam.

The Queen of Esquimalt has left Departure Bay, just as I figured she would today. I'm still assuming she went to Langdale to start summer schedules tomrrow?

All of the Summer time schedules kickoff today, the Esquimalt is doing extras on route 3, the Coq is doing extras and has already started at 7:45. Then of course the Vancouver and Saanich are doing extras on route 1. It sure doesn't seem like summer at all! ...I don't get it all of the leaves are still on the trees and it's raining and foggy like its October or November!

Also dont forget the Bowen Queen is doing extra sailing today on the Tsawwassen to Gulf Islands too! I think it's funny the people who get stuck on the Bowen Queen from Tsawwassen to the Gulf Islands for 3 hours!

what would be much more funny is if they got stuck on the 10pm sailing to Swartz Bay on the Bowen Queen

I think it's funny the people who get stuck on the Bowen Queen from Tsawwassen to the Gulf Islands for 3 hours! it is a 95 minute trip to long harbour, 2hrs if it includes a stop at sturdies bay. no different than a trip from swartz to sturdies with a couple of stops

Hey Kyle:
I'm going to SaltSpring for vacation in August. I live in Nanaimo, and I was thinking of doing a crazy route, as follows:
- take Duke Point to Tsawwassen - hang out, and check out the Tsawwassen Quay - take Bowen Queen sailing from Tsawwassen, direct to Long Harbour.
What do you think of this? Would the Bowen Queen be fun / interesting to take? My main motivation is a trip through Active-Pass, and a chance to see Tsawwassen terminal, since I don't get to see either of these very often.
What's it like taking the Bowen Queen across Georgia St.?
Thanks for your thoughts re this.

Thanks for your thoughts re this. well i guess if you want to spend some time and money it is ok. the bowen queen is definatley one you need a reservation for if taking a car. if going foot passenger then the 6:30 or whatever time it is on friday evening is busy. in my mind save yourself time and money and drive from nanaimo to crofton and take the howe sound queen.

It's friday again, and the traffic build ups at the terminals begin again. The Oak Bay was supposed to do the 7:45 sailing and loaded up with cars and is now sitting in the dock as of 8:19, I suppose maybe they're gonna have her be the #1 now because the Coquitlam is now in berth 2. So we'll see what happens in 10 minutes. Maybe I will get to do a round trip on the Oak Bay today after all.
