Queen of Sidney

I voted for that one too, she only needs a bit of maintenance and she is capable to be used by BCFerries again.

I say both the Victoria and the Sidney. They both have great historical value.

Are we sure if the Queen of Victoria is still afloat & where is she ? - the Queen of Sidney is minus a few bits and pieces like a engine.
Harry haven't you been following all the posts on the Queen?

It sounds to me like we have 2 different types of topics on this board:
1) serious, realistic discussions
2) dreamy, nostalgic discussions
I think it's important to recognize the difference. The serious discussions usually come down to the harsh realities of economics, markets, finance, labour law, and technological ability. The nostalgic discussions usually come down to what types of vessels we like, as enthusiasts.
I think that Cascade & Quinsam are 2 examples of this, on this board. Cascade appears like #1, and Quinsam appears like #2. It's when we don't recognize this, that we can get annoyed or misunderstand a post.
I think it's important to consider who is posting, as this usually indicates the intent of the post.
ps: Quinsam gives out way too much personal information on this board, for his own safety. We know his name, his town, his school, his field-trip agenda. Look up "abduction" in the dictionary, and consider being a bit more discreet, because the internet & real-world sometimes collide in a scary situation. For your own safety, please be more careful.
End of sermon, sorry for the preachin'

I chose other. Rebuild the Queen of New West; she was lifted 10 years after her sisters, why not keep her in the fleet for 10 more years? If they rebuild her they can make it 15. Use her as a *relief vessel on Duke Point-Tsawwassen, because the demand is going up.

Flugel Horn - well not sure how to view your views - but interesting.
I for one do not want to turn this board into any sort or type of political statement - pro or con against BC Ferries, but prefer to ask question - get replies - and have an interesting debate about Ferries. I though - but most likely totally wrong - that someone within BC Ferries would be looking at this forum and realize that there are some serious people with worth while views and that just maybe BC Ferries should pay a little bit of attention to the views of users - instead of been hit head on via the media - in a much bigger blow. Go pro-active.
This type of forum is used all the time in Europe - to find out what people think about the service and also for competitors to find out what the competition is up to - or not.
I am not sure about the economical benefits of a major refit on a vessel - as it should be design to handle the proposed volume of traffic on that route. If you over design a vessel - then it is the marketing departments along with the town - city that the route services to increase traffic. If traffic drops off due to the Town or City dieing - then sell the vessel and get a smaller one - cheaper to run. Put capital (Money) into the business and have a commercial mandate.
