Holy, look at the Langdale Cam, almost every lane is full as of 4:09pm. The Esquimalt just left Departure Bay 4 to ease some of the conjestion there a bit and I wouldn't be suprised if they made a trip out to Langdale too. Route 1 also has a sail wait from Swartz Bay.

I can't wait. I hope the 12:30 out of HSB isn't going to be too busy, I much prefer quieter trips on the ferry. It could have worked out if I had been able to stick to my original plan of taking the 10:30 across.

Quiet less busy sailings are the best! And good for taking photos too. I know that is hard now a days on route 1 to get less busy sailings unless it's off season midweek late night. This was last night on the SOBC piritofritisholumbiahotos.fotopic.net/p15001341.htmlIt seemed busy but I guess it really wasent full up.

There's probably been a lot of traffic on route 2 lately. She's supposed to do some extras on routes 2 & 3 throughout the long weekend.

Wow, the Queen of Alberni continues to impress me. She was delayed from leaving Tsawwassen for the 5:45 sailing today and didn't leave till 6:10 due to a passenger medical emergency. But still managed to leave Duke Point 1 minute early for the 8:15 leaving at 8:14 of course. How does she do it.

yeah they probably do. Does anyone know how fast a C class can go at full speed?

Probably close to 25 knots

Uh, no. The Alberni can make approximately 21 knots through the water. Up to 22.5 depending on wind and tide.

Unloaded they can do faster than 25. Loaded, the max is about 22 (about 41 km/h).

i'll go with what notmuchlonger mentioned for the speed of the alberni as he works on board.
strong skier, your chances of a quiet sailing on friday are probably slim to none. it is the friday of the first long weekend of the late spring early summer. will probably be nuts.

on friday may 20th the reserevations are filling up for route 2 and route 30 to the island. route 2 reservations are only available for the 0630hrs sailing and on route 30 only available on the 0515hrs and 2245hrs sailing. route 1 so far has only closed reservations on the 1600hrs and 2000hrs sailing to swartz bay. have fun anybody taking a car over to the island this weekend without a reservation. my mountain bike and i will be on the 1600hrs sailing to swartz and then the 1900hrs sailing to fulford.

Unloaded they can do faster than 25. Loaded, the max is about 22 (about 41 km/h). Sorry Doug. I have worked on all the C class and the absolute fastest over the ground speed I can remember was the Coquitlam which is supposed to have the best top speed, doing 23.5 over the ground, empty, returning from drydocking in Esquimalt. We plotted her at that speed on our radar on the Alberni. Could she go faster? No. I questioned the Chief Officer who was on board that ship move, and he told me that she was running at full speed as engine trials after the refit.

harbourlynx kid is not the top knowledge on this board about the bc ferries. remember we do have a couple on ship crew as members of this board. they probably have a little more knowledge about the ferries then most of us

Looks like anothe busy Sunday today. The Queen of Saanich made a 8pm sailing back to Tsawwassen and then back at 9:45 to Swartz Bay. Looks like there are people camping out at the terminals as Tsawwassen I see on the webcam outside the terminal a truck with a camper trailer also Departure Bay a few vehicles still outside the terminal and Duke Point also! This is at 11:27pm Sunday night!
